Hi Mike, I'm not going to apologize. I stand by my opinion (I'm allowed to have one of those, right?) that you were spamming SI to get members over to LI. As I say in my response to Dan Finney... I wish you and Linking Indiana well. I don't have...

It is about jobs too, Tim. Each area of the state needs an economic base. We don't want people starting meth labs to earn money. We don't want our neighbor's home sitting vacant. We don't want our neighbors standing in bread lines. To be happy, I ...

There's something about the "jobs" focus/rationale that's troubling to me. Talking about jobs doesn't seem to get us anywhere better than we are. Providing "jobs" is just feeding a system that many of us would say needs a major redesign -and a fre...

I've got a social media blog, but not one for photography. I was actually surprised how much it took to get the owl to take off and fly out of the barn! He just kept flying back and forth through the rafters.

Will you join the conversation?

Scott Massey, President of Meridian Institute, delivered a great talk at Smaller Indiana's "Bigger Ideas" conference back in June.

Today we are pleased to announce a long-term partnership between Smaller Indiana and the Meridian Institute in which we will work together toward our common goal of helping Indiana people, regions and communities meet the challenges and opportunities of the future. We are already working on a big project, "Imagine Indiana," an event scheduled for the Fall of 2010.

Imagine Indiana
Imagine Indiana will be a statewide summit to explore the ways in which the Arts inspire innovation. The program will highlight the innovative industries, sectors, institutions, and capacities of the state of Indiana across the fields of art, science, philanthropy, education, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, health and life science, technology, faith, civic engagement, social services, and others.

This event is being planned in co-operation with Presidents of the following organizations: Indianapolis Symphony, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Eli Lilly and Company, Indiana University, Purdue University, Ball State University, Notre Dame, WFYI, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc., CICP, and the Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis. The Indiana Arts Commission, Indy Partnership, Sports Corp, Mayor's office and Governor's office and Smaller Indiana are also involved.

Imagine Indiana is part of a national program, Imagination Conversations, inspired by the Lincoln Center in New York. More about Imagination Conversations

Here's how you can stay informed and get involved:
The Meridian Institute has established a group here on Smaller Indiana. If you'd like to stay up to speed on Imagine Indiana and other aspects of MI's partnership with SI, please join the group.

Breast and cervical cancer.... spending money to save lives? And at what cost?

In a non-scientific poll, the IndyChannel.com asked on Friday whether you believe in the recently published recommendations of less testing for certain cancers for women in specific age brackets. The poll is not perfect. It includes false choices. But for the sake of discussion, lets say we trust the data in the sur… Continue

MySpace is dead....the Prostitutes and MLM'ers have left...

MySpace has been struggling against the ever growing popularity of Facebook, but I believe the real “last nail in the coffin” is coming from Twitter. MySpace used to pummel my inbox with “friends” I have never met, but apparently found me irresistibly sexually attractive. I was beginning to think I had lost that cyber-sex appeal as my MySpace spam trickled to a stop. Lo and behold, my inbox has once again began filling with pleas from girls who desperately wanted to meet me. This time it wasn’t… Continue

Understanding Loyalty in the Facebook Era

Yesterday the New Oxford American Dictionary named “unfriend” as the top new word of 2009. Unfriend: to boot someone out of your life, either virtually, in real life, or both. The fact that we need a common word for this act may underscore a growing problem we’re having with loyalty these d… Continue

Trick To Getting Responses on SI: Mention Colts

It's interesting how many comments Colts Confessions has had (95 at time of this post). I love the Colts and enjoyed last night's game. Being a Colts fan definitely has roller coaster moments.

Does other content on SI generate this much interest? I suppose we might all day tell our grandkids about "that game".

The Future of the Web - What Does It Mean For Your Business?

With Internet usage up by almost 133% in North America since the dawn of the new millennium and almost three quarters of all Americans using the internet on a regular basis it is no doubt that the Web has come to be a mainstay of how we conduct life and business. With the way Websites and Internet based applications have exploded over the last decade and a half, the world has not seen advancement in the wealth and ease of access to information like ever before. There also seems to be nothing tha… Continue
