Top 10 Rejected Slogans for Indiana

So last night, a friend of mine, Amy Stark, put out the word on Twitter to hashtag Indiana to see if we could get the Hoosier State on the Twitter map, so to speak. So I did it the best way I know how and that's by compiling a Top 10 list of terrible terrible slogans for my beloved home state. I got great responses from the Tweet-o-sphere so I thought, why not put the whole list here for all to enjoy. Anyway, I hope you enjoy these nuggets.

10. #Indiana: Kentucky's hat
9. #Indiana: The state th… Continue

Profitability = Cross-Multiplication and Division

It is a tradition in our home for me to make sweet potato pies for the holidays. Jenna and I spent the night before thanksgiving cooking 4 pies for the Thanksgiving feast, and while stirring the pie filling, we came up with a fun way to give back to our community.

We created a tiny charity called Granny Annie's Charity Pies that will donate 20 pies and $1,000 to two Indianapolis charities this holiday season.

Here's the fun part; Jenna chose to marry someone who thinks about small business lea… Continue

You should be careful about headlines.
It's pretty easy to write a headline that will get someone to forgive your spam, and perhaps even to open your note (CyberMonday! 85% off...). It's pretty easy to write a headline that will get someone to click through on their RSS reader. It's even easy to write a tweet that will get a click through.
But is it better to get a click and then annoy someone, or better to only reac… Continue

Emotion

Over the holiday, I went and saw a movie with my wife called “The Blind Side”.

You’ve seen the trailers. It has Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and a gigantic African American high school student from the wrong side of town.

I wasn’t interested in seeing this movie at all. The reason was that I already knew exactly what was going to happen. So did you.

Here’s what I thought the storyline would be – We are introduced to a disadvantaged poor kid from a bad part of town. The odds are stacked against… Continue
