Jim Faulkner is one of east central Indiana's best known watercolorists. This series of paintings - 25 total - include his traditional scenes of Indiana countryside, farms & rivers, but a series of sailboats within the series is excitingly new. Designated an "Indiana Artisan," Faulkner has won numerous awards and has a wide patron base for his romantic depictions of our Indiana.
For the last exhibit of the year at Gordy Fine Art & Framing, Faulkner is introducing friend and raku potter, Marty Price. A retired teacher, Price likes to play with fire, taking red-hot pottery out of the kiln and introducing things like horsehair to the outside of the pots for the "raku experience." Stunning patinas are the reason for the method, and Price's pieces live up to the reputation.
An opening reception for the pair will be held 1st Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 from 5 to 8 PM at the Gordy gallery in downtown Muncie. Neighboring gallieris will also have openings, and all events are free. Music at Gordy's will be provided by well-known guitarist-vocalist, Ron Beach.
