Part Time: Web Design and Production

Dan Finney Design, Inc. is seeking a part-time applicant for the role of Web Design and Production. Applicants should have advanced graphic design and web production skills as described below.  Applicant will be expected to participate in the development cycle that entails designing a website from scratch, producing a layered Photoshop file, and turning it into a complete XHTML/CSS template for client approval.  Once the template has been approved, the applicant will be expected to build a finished website from the template and supplied content.

This position offers 15-20 hours in a flexible workweek. A permanent position may become available at a later date.

Necessary Skills:

• Graphic Design
  • Collaborate with client, sales associate, and art director to produce high quality custom design
  • Ability to design corporate websites from scratch
• Expert level XHTML/CSS hand coding:
  • Keen understanding of Valid XHTML and complex CSS relationships
  • Understanding of table-less layout for cross-browser support
• Advanced Photoshop skills
  • Ability to design and produce layered Photoshop files
  • Ability to slice images, crop photos, web optimize, and remove backgrounds (clipping paths)

Desired Skills (will be expected to learn):

• Ability to design and produce print materials (catalogs, logos, brochures, tradeshow graphics)
• Understanding of print production and programs such as InDesign and QuarkXPress
• Understanding of Illustrator
• Ability to build rollover navigation from Unordered Lists (suckerfish)
• Understand/be able to manipulate Dreamweaver Templates, Library Items, Check-in/Checkout process
• Understanding of skinning content management systems (Drupal, SiteFinity, DNN, etc.)

Helpful skills (not required):

• Ability to produce Flash animation
• Understanding of Actionscript
• Understanding of Javascript
• Familiarity with programming languages PHP/MySQL, ASP, .NET
