Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Smaller Indiana is a patient, open-minded, thoughtful community. But sometimes even the most even keeled, gentile folk get annoyed. In this forum thread, we're looking for some rants...what's bugging you...about Smaller Indiana, about "larger" Indiana, about education, politics, government, technology, society...whatever...all we ask is that you keep your comments PG-13, and explain yourself...(it's irritating when people don't give the details to defend their positions, don't you think?).

It makes me a little nuts when people I am talking to mouth the words I am saying while I am saying them. How do they do that anyway? Is it a gift of some sort?

Or how about when you are standing in line at a store and the person behind you stands so close to you that you not only can tell what kind of shampoo they use, what flavor of lip balm they have on and what they had for lunch, but you can practically hear their thoughts! Talk about invading my bubble! Sheesh people, skootch back a few steps!

When a package of food (lunch meat, cheese, etc) has the little dots for you to just tear the strip off to open, DOESN'T WORK! Same goes for boxed mac and cheese and the instructions are for you to punch in the opening. NEVER WORKS FOR ME!

Panty hose and stockings irritate me. Nothing "wrong" with them. They just irritate me and I avoid them at all cost. Evil things.

Hairs flying out of my paint brush onto my water color paintings. Thats enough irritation to make me scream!

Folks telling me I should have my kids in public school (I homeschool) to encourage socializing within my children. Like public school is the ideal place to teach children how to socialize? Need a better reason than that.

In a group setting, people who answer questions that I ask them but turn to a different person near-by to answer the question. I don't even understand why this happens but it seems to happen to me all of the time.

Profanity in movies. Profanity in check-out lines, profanity anywhere bugs me. Its not neccessary and its not even a good representation of emotion---because the definitions of so many of these words change from generation to generation.

Undies showing on a guy...while he holds up the front of his undies with his hand near the crotch (I hope that is pg-13 enough). and for the ladies, pants so low that plumber booty appears. I'm sorry, but that line is not pretty on anyone...plumber or not.

I think I am listing too many but I am never given the chance to "sound off" on the things that irritate me. Thanks! Its almost like a good dose of therapy!

Check out the interesting exchange between Kyle Lacy and myself in my blog posting entitled, "Just how we (they) use the Internet in today's world".

Kyle and I tastefully rant about social networking.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Thanks Kyle!

The campaign for the presidency. Every day I see worse and worse news. And yet, the candidates seem to be oblivious.............HEY how about some ideas?

Amen.

I totally agree!!

I love politics, but the bickering and empty rhetoric is getting very tiresome. How can one say that after a 500+ point loss on Wall St. that the economy is OK? And why can't the other one develop a detailed plan for anything?

To paraphrase Jay Leno: this campaign has become all about putting lipstick on animals!

Stupid people who are told to evacuate and they think they are smarter, stronger or whatever stupid logic they use to justify staying behind. THEN they need to be rescued and put lives at risk to save their stupid lives. Did they not see what happen in New Orleans. I completly lack compassion for stupidity.

I remember hearing the Governor of Texas saying last week to those who chose to stay, that if they did not partake of that last window of opportunity to leave (when help would be available) then there would be no help until after the storm. They would then be at the mercy of when help could get to them. He then went on to say (paraphrased) "Don't blame us. We warned you and gave you every opportunity to get out! Now it's on you."

You are sooooo right! Did they not see what happened in New Orleans!
