Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Smaller Indiana is a patient, open-minded, thoughtful community. But sometimes even the most even keeled, gentile folk get annoyed. In this forum thread, we're looking for some rants...what's bugging you...about Smaller Indiana, about "larger" Indiana, about education, politics, government, technology, society...whatever...all we ask is that you keep your comments PG-13, and explain yourself...(it's irritating when people don't give the details to defend their positions, don't you think?).

It bugs me when a car pulls up next to me and their music drowns out my stereo which I know is pretty loud itself! You, know maybe the excessive vibration is damaging the streets...;)

It bugs me to see people walking down the middle of a street at night, not wearing protective gear, and after you nearly kill yourself and any other driver on the street trying to avoid splattering their guts all over the place they look at you like you are the idiot.

Who came up with the dumb idea to hang male "parts" from backs of their cars? And why? Try explaining that to a 5 year old.

I do not understand why it is so important that our society causes our children to grow up so fast. The way young girls dress anymore is mind boggling. There are 12 year-olds out there who look like 20 something street walkers! Where has the innocence in being a child gone?

It bugs me to be 'politically correct'. What ever happened to just plain old 'correct'?

It bugs me when people that cry for tolerance are intolerant themselves. If I am to be open to them why are they not willing to do the same for me?

That's all for now. Whew, I feel better. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Ok, you asked...

My number one pet peeve is people who contribute to the number of animals in shelters. This includes puppy millers, back yard breeders, people who support puppy mills by buying dogs at pet stores, people who support back yard breeders by buying dogs from newspapers or the internet, people who don't spay or neuter their pets, and irresponsible owners who think animals are disposable and drop their pets off at the shelter at the first sign of inconvenience. Not only do these people cost American taxpayers billions (that's right, with a B) when animal control services have to kill millions of animals each year, but it is also a mark of how little our culture values the sanctity of life. These animals offer us nothing but limitless love and devotion, and so many treat them worse than garbage.

And now, for my #1 pet peeve!

When a person is following you so close in their car that you can make personal introductions!

Arg!!! Get off my Butt or I'm gonna fulfill your wish - or make you hit me, which ever comes first.

My fiance says that I change personalities when that happens. I learned how to drive in Dallas on Central Expressway so I'm going to morph into something bad, anyway.

And with that I say -

Ta-Daaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

OMG- another Texan who learned to drive on the moving parking lot! Have you been there lately? Central Expressway has been rebuilt and is a joy to drive on. Blew me away!

And my cure for those who want to suck on my bumper: my car has a rear fog light - it lights up one of the brake lights. I turn it on and people back off. I have lots of fun doing that and speeding up at the same time.

I love the fog light trick!

It really p's me off to hear about people who get upset that their kids weren't picked for the soccer/baseball/basketball team - hey maybe your darling child should take up another activity instead of trying to live your dream; it p's me off when coaches favor their own kids who can't dribble, hit, run if their life depended on it - I treated my son like all the other boys on his team including making him take laps when deserved; it p's me off when a parent doesn't like it when I make their kid take laps - if you don't like it then you can coach. In fact, that's probably one of my biggest gripes: people who b and moan but aren't willing to step up. I got into coaching because I had a gripe and decided that I couldn't say anything if I wasn't willing to be a part of the solution.

I hate it when there is no toilet paper in the ladies restroom and you find out when it is too late.

Even though I hover... I hate it when there is unknown liquid all over the seat...

Speaking of bathroom etiquette, it definitely rubs me the wrong way when I see a fellow bathroom user jet out the bathroom without washing his hands...

Yeah... that is disgusting...
