Making people and ideas findable

In this economy, alot of downsizing is going on, have you been effected? Do you have other options, if so what are they? Do you have a back up plan? Curious on thoughts?

I work for myself, so I'm not concerned about tradtional downsizing. However, I'm concerned about my clients. If they're not doing well, I'm not doing well (crap rolls downhill, right?). I've created an environment of multiple streams of income - a safety net for myself in the event I must take a semi-permanent vacation.

On the brighter side, most of my products are "recession proof". A business typically has to be completely bankrupt before they stop using us. I placed that in quotations because I'm not naive. I'm not sure what is actually recession proof (grocery stores, oil/gas, healthcare, education, Security???). I had a client file for Chapter 13 this week. The doors aren't closed, but. My back up plan consists of doing what I've always been doing while being cautiously optimistic. I have looked at a worse case scenario and, yes, I'm prepared to jump with my huge, bright parachute adhered to my torso. In translation - I'm prepared to land w/o broken bones. I may skin my knees, but I will walk away.
