I am not hooked on Facebook but I check it occasionally. As for Twitter I have never used it since I do not feel it is something I want to interrupt my work or social life.

As for the Mac commercials I find them irritating since both systems are PC's They are just different operating systems. If Mac had the largest market share they would be the system of choice for hackers not Microsoft.

From a technical standpoint, they are not the same. Mac runs on Unix, which is more secure than Windows (I think it still runs on DOS?). It could be said that Windows has a larger market share and thus more readily hacked, but that doesn't mean that Unix isn't more secure.

Here's an interesting read on the matter:

Regarding twitter interrupting your work or social life... a friend said recently that "twitter is as good at the people you follow". You could use it to grow your business if that's what you intend to get out of it.

The analogy between Twitter and Facebook is not remotely close to the comparison between Macs and PC's (which I wrote about last year.)

I'd suggest that a great way to compare Facebook and Twitter is to think of Facebook as an ever-expanding shopping mall whereas Twitter is an ever-expanding conference call. Facebook is a place where you can go to an arcade, meet up with friends in the food court, be bombarded by advertisements, shop for odd products and be chased out by mall security guards. Twitter, however, is confined to conversation. The challenge with Twitter is the challenge of talking and listening.

Facebook is the PC.

Without a doubt...

Always a day late and a dollar short...

Silly Facebook.
