Making people and ideas findable

I've been told there isn't one application out there to help you manage all of your social media "stuff". Can someone get on making one of those, please? What is out there that you're using that at least helps manage a few at a time?

I use FeedHub for RSS management. FriendFeed for aggregating aggregation of feeds from multiple sites. You might try this post for 100 Social management of items. It's a bit overwhelming.

First, what social media platforms are you wanting to manage?

Here are a couple of suggestions for you:

Check out Ping.fm to update multiple statuses at once.

Also, check out the Flock browser. It is the social browser. I'm so addicted to Firefox that I can't switch over, but it's pretty cool.

If you blog and use Twitter, you can use TwitterFeed to send a message to your Twitter acct each time you blog, which eliminates the step of you having to promote a new blog post on Twitter, which can also send a message to your Facebook and FriendFeed if it's integrated.

Hope these few tips help!

If you're a Windows user, there is something called 8hands that might help: http://8hands.com/. Also, Brian Wyrick pointed me to this article on Lifehacker about something called atomkeep: http://lifehacker.com/399825/atomkeep-syncs-your-social-network-pro...

I am a Mac user so I haven't tried 8hands yet . . . and I'm too busy updting all my social networks, so I haven't tried atomkeep yet either! : ) but both look promising.

Flock is most definitely a cool browser, but lacking in stability, from my experience.

From a first glance, 8 hands appears to be what I'm looking for... I'll test it out. Thank you!

Let me know how your 8 Hands experience goes. I downloaded it after Taulbee's suggestion, and I got an unexpected error with each acct I tried to add.

If you don't have much luck with it, you should check into Digsby. It handles quite a few networks... I've used it and liked it.

I second what Nicki said the flock browser is great and runs on the Firefox engine.

Raquel,

Yes, please update us on what you've found for managing your networks. As I discuss these ideas with others here, I'm suddenly feeling overwhelmed with the idea of keeping all of these networks in order. Who did I post to? Did I visit that site today? Which forum was that on? Yadda yadda yadda....

I have been trying to download the 8 hands to no success.... seemed good but not if you cannot even get it started!

Raquel,

I've already downloaded it and uninstalled it... Check out www.digsby.com. It's the same concept, but I liked it. I am also investigating a new Joomla component that would be included in our websites that incorporated nearly all of the social networks that we use, except of course Ning, I believe. I'll keep you posted.
