Making people and ideas findable

Hello SI Friends,

I have been trying to add an RSS feed to our website, but for some reason everytime I follow the directions and add the coding nothing will show up.
Do you have any suggestions or are there any sites you have used that you have found helpful?

Thanks!

What section of your web site do you want to feed through RSS? Is your site build on top of a content management system (CMS)? If so, it should do the RSS for you. If not, you'll have a lot of work ahead of you creating the RSS feed by hand.

Assuming you are not using a CMS pre-packaged web site (Joomla, GeekLog, Drupal, etc), and if you have someone on your staff or access to someone who is familiar with PHP there are open source scripts/examples out there that can help you get this done. This of course is assuming you're on a linux based web server as ones running Microsoft IIS (If you have .asp, .aspx page extensions) do not typically come equipped with PHP. If this is the case, I'm sure there are ASP scripts/examples available to use, just not as many to choose from. If you’re creating your own files to do this, remember the permissions, the world has to be able to see the file to see the feeds. And re-reading what you posted, this would probably be where I would start if you're already following directions for a package.

If you need help, feel free to contact me.

Rachel, you already have an RSS feed your website, you just don't know it!

The feed is: http://www.accentonbusiness.net/blog/?feed=rss2

All you have to do is use that link and people can keep up with your latest blog entries.

Rachel Just like Robby said you do have RSS feed on your blog.

But if you are trying to implement latest 5 or so blog posts to your main site something like "Our Blog" and then your latest blog entries, you can do that easily through www.feed2js.org or you can install their files in your site and have everything running FROM your site. I have done this numerous times both ways and it works like a charm. If you need help you can reach me at ashanjp@gmail.com

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

3. Events should be posted in the events calendar

4. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

5. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.

6. "Blatant self-promotion" is discouraged on SI, and "spam" is not welcome. Please be considerate of your fellow members.
