Making people and ideas findable

David Kelly is founder of design consultancy,Ideo, and the inventor of "Design Thinking", a method Ideo uses to drive its work. Over the past several years, Ideo has employed its method and helped major companies design all kinds of things, including products, services, experiences, and environments. And it has been able to transfer its design methodology and sensibility to "non-designers" too. For example, over 100 folks at P & G have been trained in "Design Thinking" by the IDEO team. Apparently, you can teach MBAs to think like designers...with great effect.

Design Thinking meets Business, and Law, and Medicine...

In 2009, Stanford University will open its new "d" school, a place where design thinking will be allowed to grow and thrive and infect all other schools of thought. In fact, according to this Fast Company article, Stanford might make design thinking a requirement for all its students. Do you think design thinking is worth all the hype? Will design thinking keep America on the cutting edge of innovation? If so, then what can our local universities do to get with the program?

Please post your thoughts here.
