Special Grateful Dead tribute night at Birdy's for a good cause

August 1, 2009, will mark the 67th anniversary of the birth of Jerry Garcia, founder of the Grateful Dead. To commemorate the event, some of Indianapolis’ most respected musicians will come together for a special benefit concert. EMAS Productions presents A Very Jerry Evening, a tribute to the Grateful Dead, at Birdy’s on Saturday, August 1. The concert will feature the Spud Puppies in their first live performance in more than a year, along with The Cousin Brothers, The Mysteries Bloom and Diamond Hill Station. Also appearing will be Cliff Snyder, Greg Ziesemer and Gary Wasson. Each of these acts are known for their songwriting abilities, but on this night, they will be performing Grateful Dead songs alongside their original music. The evening’s festivities will be in support of the Rex Foundation, the charitable organization started by the Grateful Dead in 1983. ALL proceeds from A Very Jerry Evening, including the $10.00 cover charge and money raised through a 50-50 and door prizes, will be donated to the Rex. Come on out and see a once-in-a-lifetime musical lineup and support an outstanding cause. Showtime will be 9:00 SHARP at Birdy’s, 2131 East 71st Street. I forgot all about the Spud Puppies, Greg is great, too.

Yes, we're thrilled about their involvement. It's the Spud Puppies' first show this year, and their first in more than a year. They're fired up about playing...should be awesome.
