Special thanks to Smoosier, Angelo Peduto, of Circle City Tickets for making this possible:

Seven Lucky Smoosiers Can Win Tickets to the Senior Open
US Senior Open Coming to Crooked Stick in Carmel July 27 to Aug 2, and Smaller Indiana has tickets to give away! (Special thanks to Smoosier, Angelo Peduto, of Circle City Tickets for making this possible)

Here's how you can win the tickets

We'd like to see these tix used by a wide variety of Smoosiers. If you're interested in winning the tix, please post a reply to this thread and let us know how you intend to use them. We'll pick seven winners - one winner for each day of the event - for seven completely different reasons... the seven most original, sincere, funny, heart wrenching, practical, surprising, ridiculous posts could win...so tell us why you want to go:

Your reasons can be explained in brief, or at length. You can use visual aids. Whatever.

Examples:
- Will you be bringing a client?
- Will you be having a date with your spouse?
- Bringing your camera to get some great shots of players or scenery?
- Bringing a video camera to get an interview with a player? (keep in mind that cameras are only permitted during Mon - Wed practice rounds.
- Can't afford tickets to anything else these days?
- Just want to wander around on Crooked Stick and talk to the geese?
- Tell us your original reason why you should win the tickets. Maybe we'll pick you.

We'll read all replies posted by Friday, July 17, and award 2 tix to 7 different Smoosiers

Each winner will win a pair of tickets for one of the seven days of golf. And each winner PROMISES TO RETURN TO SMALLER INDIANA TO BLOG ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES. This is key. You gotta come back and tell us how it went - and share your photos / videos if you got 'em. That's a prerequisite!!

Schedule for the week
The players play practice rounds from Monday through Wedesday, and the actual tournament runs Thursday through Sunday. Parking is Free. We do have Pete Dye hospitality tent passes. And kids under 17 can enter free. Here's a link to more info

Wow! Major Cool! and yes, I just reverted to teen expressions in the excitement of winning something.

Thanks so much. I promise to report back. In the meantime...gotta call mom. Hey, I think I'll have her pick up the tickets (I'm in Georgetown, IN waaaay south of Indy).

Thanks for the tickets! They will be enjoyed. Can't wait to see our man, Tommy, out there. He is our golf hero of the year!! And, oh yes, I'll be sneaking a glimpse of Greg Norman's buns!

My first thank you is offered to Angelo Peduto and Circle City Tickets for such a top-of-the-world gesture providing Smoosiers a wonderful opportunity to not only view a world-class venue and at the same time include another person to whom they feel honor and respect.
Secondly I applaud 90% of the entries who honestly showed heartfelt thankfulness for seniors who had contributed so much to enriching the lives of Smoosiers, both golf and non-golfing ways.
Was a week ago today I penned my entry. As a former sportscaster/sportswriter and having assisted in preparing to host Arnold Palmer and Raymond Floyd in a civic club fundraiser 30 years ago in Omaha I confess the Seniors PGA holds my interest much moreso today than the PGA tour itself. My landlord of 10 years has actually became my best friend and as a diehard linksman I know he would have joined me at Crooked Stick.
For some reason I held off dispatching my entry, fully holding prose and reminenses of golf's attachment and meaning within my own life. Tuesday night's baseball All-Star game reopened those reflections in seeing Stan Musual introduced in St. Louis where I saw my first major league game at the old Sportsman's Park. Early elementary school years found my day completed only after listening to Harry Carey on WGIL out of Galesburg,IL.

Until I read every single entry from more than 50 sincere SI contributors and realized that my point that a "senior? Smoosier must be included within the winning entries had been made better than my own could.
Yes indeed, this contest has brought about a total week of self-reflection as to what sports has meant to my life.
Obviously it has been huge.
But no larger than the pleasurable feelings gained from seeing the postings from my fellow SI contributors. They have brought approaching tears into these 67 year old eyes more than once. Moreso they have brought renewed gratiude and reawareness of while we hear more about selfishness and greed we need to remember that overall this country houses the most giving and thankful citizens of any country in our world.
I don't envy those doing the selection or those selected as ticket benefactors;I merely say congratulations to all...well done!
Non-seniors may not remember newspaper pictures of Tommy Bolt smashing 5-irons around trees, or Davenport ,Iowa's Jack Fleck chipping in from a sandtrap to win a U>
s. Open or Roberto DiVencenzao losing a Major by inadvertently signing an improper scoreboard. You see, there was PGA golf before Tiger Woods or even Fuzzy Zoeller!
To our representatvtives may I suggest a question to be posed to Tom Watson since he has been instrumental in shaping and making the tour what it is today. How does he view today's economic upheaval affecting the multi-million dollar business of professional golf?
No one, please, see my post as selfrighteousness. I have my round with Senior's every weekday morning in delivering meals to disabled and senior shutins for CICOA, the Central Indiana Council On Aging covering our 8-county metroplex and proudly claiming distribution of more than a half-million meals last year. Just as ur selectee(s) taking a snior will be thrilled I enjoy that in my life daily as I get to visit a 91-year old blind woman, unwrap her hot meal, sit her down at her table, tell her of the day's meal, open her milk carton and pour it into a glass and hand her fork or spoon to her.
What I really get to see is the gleam in a blind woman's eyes that will stay with me even longer than seeing Tom Watson once again.
I look forward to the postings of their Crooked Stick experiences from all of our lucky and deserving SI entrants. Reading their posts is well worth your time if you have not yet done so.

Go Tom Watson.

Reporting on a fabulous Friday at the Senior US Open. The weather was spectacular which made for a great day. Today was Greg Norman Day. Big crowds followed him throughout the afternoon. His play was up and down, but he finished strong at 2 under for the day and 8 under for the tournament. The leader is Tim Jackson, an amateur from Tennessee, at 11 under.

My personal favorite this week is our Indiana Senior State Amateur, Randy Nichols. I personally met and chatted with him Thursday afternoon. What a great guy! Not sure if he made the cut at 6 over, but if he did, please support our local favorite!

Thank you Ann! I am glad you had a great time. I was also happy to see our own Randy Nichols playing with the big names of the senior tour. I hope that Circle City Tickets can do more of these give always in the future. I always like to hear of the experience our clients have at events like the Senior Open.

I had the fortunate opportunity of receiving tickets for Thursday's first round of the Senior U.S. Open. I was able to take my Dad. It was an experience niether of us will ever forget. When I approached him with the opportunity, his eyes welled up with tears and that right there was enough for me.

The day was beautiful, despite slight overcast, and my Dad was able to see all of the golfers that he had always wanted to watch. Although cameras were not allowed (I have no pictures to share), the experience, the memories, the sights and the sounds will be something that my Dad will never forget. I am glad I was able to provide this experience for my father, I love you Dad!

I live in southern Indiana, near Louisville, and Mom lives in Fishers. She was so excited to attend the US Senior Open that she called me three times over the weekend :) She picked up the tickets and confirmed what Angelo had told me by phone - that they were for Tuesday play/practice. On Monday I scrambled to re-arrange my business appointments, and was unable to so told Mom to give my ticket to a friend and that both of them should go. Then, she got word late Monday afternoon that family was coming in to Indy and needed her. So, she ran across the street (okay, scooted is more like it) and offered the tix to her neighbor, an avid golf fan. He happily accepted the tix and immediately got on the phone to contact friends about attending. Turns out that on Tuesday morning he had an urgent family matter to attend to.

What a downer for us all - we had hoped that someone could enjoy the day with the pros and did all within our power to make it happen. So, I am sorry to say, we were unable to use those tix - but are very happy to see others who were able to enjoy their time with family and the pros.

Thank you, Angelo, for giving the tix and thank you Smaller Indiana for letting him :)
