Who is more persuasive: Democrats or Republicans in their use of Social Media?

(Note: I altered the question because the first one I wrote was, well, stupid on my part).
From Fast Company

Democrats and Republicans are waging ideological war on the healthcare front using weapons of social media:

Obama's healthcare site, which launched last month, has just begun to gain a critical mass of user-generated content. Called "Health Care Stories for America," it features an interactive Google map that pinpoints a few hundred personal stories about experiences with the American health-care system from across the country, and allows users to search by zipcode to see stories near them. Browsing the "recent stories" is a relatively apolitical exercise in heartbreak: Users have filled out paragraphs about a father lost to HMO coverage-denial, a sister suffering from a ski accident; a small-business employee with Hepatitis C. You can share your own story, tweet others, or publish one to Facebook; you can also donate money to Obama's cause.

The Republican response, called the Barack Obama Experiment, is a kind of video-blog that aims to make readers "nervous" about the Obama plan, according to Politico. The title of the site comes from a memo by an RNC consultant who has been advising party leaders on how to slow down the White House's march toward reform, including the controversial "public option" where the government would compete with private insurance companies.

The site, sparse and basic and without any of the flash of Obama's expert Web projects, acts as a cache of YouTube videos of party chairman Michael Steele's appearances on television, with a smattering of commercials. To be exact: two Steele videos and one commercial. Yes, there are only three videos on the site, which was launched four days ago, and doesn't look as if it's been updated since. Take a look at the two sites and consider this simple yet loaded question:

Smarter? No. More adept at using social media to manipulate the masses? Definitely.

Reply to This

I hardly call it manipulation if the willing participants are willing.

Are you being manipulated in using this site?

Reply to This

They are absolutely manipulating thigns but so are the GOPer's it is all abotu manipulation on both sides of the aisle. If you don't think it is then you are already brainwashed.

By willing participants, I mean willing to participate, willingly, in social media.

And what can I say, I was brainwashed the moment I was born into the world.

Slicker does not mean Smarter. There's typically not much true wisdom behind the "flash" or glitz. When/if we as citizens come to our senses and realize the truth we'll have a whole lot of damage to repair!

I think it was smart to use a very controversial subject line to get people fired up enough to come look at the post and start the discussion. :)

Exactly. ;)

Tricia, It wasn't just the subject line that was controversial. I think the content was meant for a more specified audience, or he just wants people to say "are you &$#$# kidding me?" to him a few dozen times. I personally am just sick of all the Kool-Aid drinkin libs who think Obama won and now the country is all united under him. He is just as disliked by republicans as Bush was by liberals. Lucky for him though he's got the media on his side.

"He is just as disliked by republicans as Bush was by liberals."

I can't seem to find your source for this. Hrmm. In fact, i can only find information that shows an overwhelmingly larger support for Obama.

"Lucky for him though he's got the media on his side."

The media is on the side of the eyes that feed.

Overwhelming larger support for Obama? Maybe now, compared to when Bush left office, but that's comparing apples to oranges. Do me a favor Jack, go do some research and see what Bush's approval rating was during the first part of his first term of office and compare it to Obama's current rating...You just might be surprised.

He will lose the media as he continues to control them....remember how he tossed the first reporter out of the press room before his family was moved in.

In fact, I just watch O'Reilly on Fox quoting a poll saying less than half of Americans support Obama's healthcare plan.
