Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

The photo above is of a prototype vehicle, the Idea, a delivery van that gets 100 m.p.g.
The Idea was designed and built by Anderson, IN based, Bright Automotive. Bright is currently raising the funds it needs in order to begin building vehicles. One source of funds the company hopes to tap is a the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program (ATVMLP) offered by the Department of Energy (DOE).

If you heard John Waters speak at Bigger Ideas, and you'd like to let your fellow Smoosiers know what you think of Bright Auto, please share your comments here. And...

Can Smaller Indiana influence Washington?
If you want to help Bright Auto earn consideration for that DOE loan, you can write your local, state or federal politician of your choice. For the facts about Bright Auto and the reasons why it should be considered for the DOE loan, view the sample letter attached below.

Correct, and they have done all of this and have had plans to continue with those private funds. However with the government loans they would be able to move much faster, which is the point.

BTW, if we are worried about possible losses from government loan guarantees we will also have to stop FHA mortgages, SBA loans and Student loans.

You want to get away from foreign oil and you beat your intellectual chest in supporting this car that may or may not sell. At the sametime, the money this company is getting is probably being borrowed from a foreign country.

Or worse yet, this money being lent to the company is just simply getting printed off the presses at the Federal Reserve leaving generations with a lower quality of life.

I agree, however the government's irresponsible behavior is not on Bright.

I saw your brilliant presentation at the bigger Ideas conference and I support what you are trying to do!

Ever read "The Paradoxical Commandments" by Kent M. Keith? It would be a good one for you, given the nature of your idea and the, um, kind of support you have been getting.

Best wishes.

I think the vehicle pollution problem needs to be solved with an exhaust capture device, that either filters out or captures all the crap from the exhaust. I would assume there has to be some intelligent scientist that can chemically zap toxic particles out of the exhaust fumes before they leave the vehicle.

I am all for 100 mpg, and with the "demand" will come the vehicles. But there is no reason to believe they will be made in the USA - we are too expensive to employ economically; seems like Brazil is where many firms are deciding to build their autos - and with very different manufacturing plants that integrate (house) the Auto Company with the Auto Supplies. Once we hit $6 & $8 per gallon gas, these type of efficient engines will be in high demand... Could happen within the next year or two IMO.

Just returned yesterday from California; I had taken a few days to travel to see "The Vision Victory Economic Seminar" in Ontario California on July 11th, 2009.

I was very impressed by the speaker, Daniel (Vision Victory), and the amount of study & research he had invested in the seminar content. I learned much more about our economy and some of the details (statistics) that Vision Victory uses to help him understand the dynamics of the US & Global Economy.

The seminar lasted just over 2 hours at the Ontario Hilton Hotel (Airport). Vision Victory has changed my paradigm for understanding the Economic Crisis that we are in right now and also helped me know where the best investments are for people concerned about our economy and the falling values of the US Dollar.

I was lucky enough to "rub shoulders" with Daniel, his wife and mother-in-law during the lunch after the seminar (only five of us, I was lucky); primarily because I had traveled the longest distance to attend his event; most of the 100+ attendees were from the California Area.

The main reason I traveled across the country to see Vision Victory Live was that he is authentic and does his YouTube Economic Videos and this Seminar for the primary purpose of "Waking American's Up". (note: He has 10,000+ subscribers on YouTube right now). The mainstream media manipulates the news, economic statistics, and American's are never told the "Truth" about our economic conditions.

As a result of this seminar; I will very likely attempt to see his next seminar - assuming that more are to come across the country.

More will be posted soon about what I learned...on my YouTube account & on Kokomo Online...
