Would you Change Your Vote?
It seems that most Democrats still strongly support President Obama, and most Republicans don't. No big surprise. But we're wondering where do the Independents stand? Based on Obama's performance in office so far. Regardless of whether you voted for him or not, how do you feel now?

If the election were held today, would you change your vote? Please share your thoughts here

The Gallup Poll has been tracking Presidential approval ratings for decades. The Chart above comes from USA Today.

Steve,

I really hope this happens, but still see the two party system bullying the crap out of everyone. In this last election, the media helped keep everyone else out as well. How do we change that?

Its changing as we speak. The change is coming with my generation waking up to more self reliance without social engineering. The change is coming with baby boomers realizing they need to better leave in place future generations by knocking down our countries deficits from the past 50 years.

Social engineering by government is being defeated right now and will hit ultimate heights of destruction here very soon.

One thing about Americans, they have the spirit of indivudalism and it will rule the day once again.....

I'll gear up and have my keyboard ready to fight, Steve! I'm tired of this crap.

You have great comments on here. I think too many people got caught up in slogans, and that's a sad thing. I didn't vote for Obama and never will. I'm hoping that someone like Mitch Daniels would run for President, Mitch gets things done.

Suffice it to say I believe in smaller government and more individual responsiblity. More bureaucracy leads to less individual freedom. Bring back the time when Americans actually manufactured products in the U.S., and if a business was on the edge of failure, it either found a way to bounce back or was allowed to fail. I think we blame Obama for too much, just as we have blamed Bush and every other president in history for the questionable decisions made during their terms. I did not vote for Obama, nor would I today, but much of the blame should be laid upon the shoulders of Congress. They will vote for their own pay raises, pensions, and health care options to beat all...and they will do it all day long! However, when it comes to creating bills that actually have a long-term benefit for the American people they represent (play laugh track here), they play party politics and accomplish very little. How about a reduction in corporate taxes to stimulate job creation? Reducing corporate tax has a trickle down effect--lower cost of goods and services for the average Joe, more funds available to offer employee health care plans, etc..why is this not on the table? The unemployed would have increased opportunites for jobs and health care in one fell swoop!

Speaking broadly I am mostly encouraged by the last year. We've had a needed correction with our economy, we've had a "real" election with an engaged electorate, we've got a President who is energetic, intelligent and working hard to serve the country- a public servant in a similar mode to Mitch Daniels, another fav of mine. Technology is creating new jobs, new businesses are rising from the ashes of large corporations. Innovation will grow from the dirt of this recession.

The noise from the far right and to a lesser extent the far left can't drown out the real progress that is being made towards a country that is living in reality and moving forward into the 21st century. I get frustrated by the noise but on the ground there are real people living in the middle of that noise that want Obama to succeed as a leader whether they agree with every move he makes. I'm pretty hopeful as long as I don't turn on cable news which I watch less and less now.

It's generally considered to be the "gold standard" in polling data. It's what most politicians use. It's updated daily.

Thirty two percent strongly approve of Obama's body of work so far. Forty percent strongly disapprove. Forty seven percent somewhat approve and 52% somewhat diaspprove. There's a graphic that shows how things have shifted.

Forty four precent favor his health care plan, which is the same as it was before his speech to Congress.

The daily presidential tracking poll is generally the second or third bullet on the upper right side of the banner page under "most recent releases".

How long did it take for the economy, automobile industry, etc. to get to the dire state? Does anyone really believe that elected officials can change this in a few short months? Americans and the politicians we elect talk too much about quick change and reform. When a new president is elected, he spends the greater part of the first year or two undoing the previous administration's efforts.

Would I change my vote? Too soon to tell. I agree with one of the previous comments about the Congress not pulling their weight. Is there a real strategy for long-term sustainability? So far, I'm VERY concerned about the amount of money being thrown at "solving" big, systemic issues.

I would not change my vote. I think the US are on the right way, changes are always difficult and need time. But I believe that things will get better and Obama will show the world that he's the best president the US has had in the last three decades.
