Probably 99.9 percent of my freelance writing assignments are generated via phone or email. It's extremely rare that I ever have face-to-face meetings. But for some, this would work and I think it's a wonderful idea.

John,

Yes...the place in Chicago is called Workspring, unfortunately their prices are soo outrageous that they will never hit the mass market. ($420/day- Who can afford this??)

The model we are looking at has prices starting at $45/month so we can appeal to a much broader market and nurture a large local community.

Thank you for your thoughts!!!!

It is interesting to note that so many people want a conference room. Steelcase is actually doing something like this in Downtown Chicago...You can rent space by the hour. They are finding lots of New Economy Types of Business Folks want somewere to meet or do a presentation or do a colaboration meeting/interview somewere other than a coffee shop. You can read more about it in last months Metropolis Magazine. In order to make a Coworking area work it still must make a profit. Multiple small meeting rooms would make economic sense and seem to be quickly rentable. Of course all of the ususual amenities such a high speed wireless internet, color copier, high end printer, even a notary, and postage machine and a Fed Ex pick up.

Robby, I was actually thinking the same thing about the conference room space because our conference room has a work station behind a low wall in the back of the room. This works fine if no one is working in that space, but when they are it is hard to have a private meeting in our location. I think it would be cool to have an offsite location if very private information needs to be discussed.

I have a dedicated office for the business, but the primary interest I have for co-working is in conference room space. It's difficult to justify a dedicated space in our offices.

Perhaps the co-working space could include an optional conference room-only rental fee?

I agree -- a great idea. I don't want or need a full-time office elsewhere -- but would like a part time option Indy -- either downtown or north would be preferable

This is a great idea! I am not in need of this at this time, but I know a heck of a lot of people who might be who have lost their jobs...I will spread the word!
