How To Listen Effectively
Program Offered to Public

Avon, Indiana. (September, 2009) - Communication, both speaking and listening, are critical in today's business world. This is especially true in the challenging job market today. Having exceptional communication skills can be the difference between getting a promotion or not, keeping one's job or not, or even getting a new job.

Twin Bridges Toastmasters, a Toastmasters club in Avon, Indiana, is offering a free program to the public. This program, "How to Listen Effectively", will provide attendees with a chance to learn nine techniques for better listening. These techniques will enable participants to obtain more information from listening and improve rapport with speakers.

The event will be offered in three parts on the following dates:
October 19th, 2009
November 16th, 2009
December 14th, 2009

The program will start promptly at 6:15 PM, and be offered in the club's usual meeting location.

Twin Bridges Toastmasters, which meets at Cummins Mental Health 6655 E US 36 Avon, IN 46123 on Mondays at 6:15 PM, is there to help you conquer your public speaking fears. Visitors are always welcome! This group has joined forces with 12,000 other clubs, as part of Toastmasters International – a nonprofit organization serving more than 250,000 members in 106 countries. For more information about Toastmasters International, please visit www.toastmasters.org. Since its founding in 1924, Toastmasters International has helped more than four million men and women develop their public speaking skills and become confident communicators at work and home.

Hello fellow Toastmasters. I'm open to 'Smaller Indiana' Toastmasters Club. We could have speeches focus on situations we encounter as small business owners. We wouldn't necessarly have to meet every single week.

I invite everyone to Westlake Toastmasters at Westlake Church of Christ, 612 N. High School Road to check out what you do to host a Speechcraft. During the six week program the speechcrafters get a mini overview of the basic techniques we learn during the time we are working on our Competent Communicator manual. We are also searching for six individuals that would be willing to step up to be an advisor to the speechcrafter's. We will only be doing this thru Thursday, September 17th. If anyone is interested or has further questions feel free to email me at CasebournD2@sbcglobal.net.

The Greater Greenwood club is great! You'll want to come visit, they have several "Experienced" toastmasters (yeah, I meant old-er) and DTMs that help newcomers see what is possible through practice and feedback. And, it is at the Bean Cup, so there is another benefit,...

Justin - I will give kudos to Don for creating the group - I just helped to spread the word.

What I think we can do as District Officers is field questions from those interested in Toastmasters and assist them in finding a suitable club or start a new club (Smaller Indiana Toastmasters Club, anyone?). For current Toastmasters members, I will offer my services by answering questions and providing resources.

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

3. Events should be posted in the events calendar

4. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

5. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.

6. Smaller Indiana is supported by its members, and by corporate sponsors. If you're interested in learning more about sponsorship, please call Pat Coyle at 317 332 7878.
