The State of Indiana has a reputation for being a digital media hotbed, as innovative companies such as Exact Target, Compendium Blogware, FormStack, DK New Media and many others continue to emerge and become globally influential.

The Indiana Social Media Summit and Smackdown Event recognizes leading individuals at the forefront of social media and it's a chance for Indiana's Social Media elite to Connect, Compete, Collaborate and Celebrate

The event - which includes a luncheon (buy your own), open-networking beginning at 11:30AM, and lots of fun - is open to the public but you must reserve your spot. Scott Wise (Scotty @brewhouse) is closing the doors to the general public to allow Indiana's social media elite to gather

Following the month-long open nomination and voting process, trophies will be awarded to:

  • Indiana's Most Influential: Dame, Dude, and Up & Comer
  • Indiana's Nicest Social Media Peep
  • Indiana's Grooviest Social Media Peep,Campaign or Company
  • Indiana's Most Ethical Social Media Peep or Company
  • Best In Show <= New Category for this year showcasing a non-human (such as the Butler Bulldog)

Hey INaugural Gang,

I am running #Indiana's 2nd Annual Social Media Summit and SMackdown Event again it's going like gangbusters. After a few requests, I decided to move the event to facebook this year.  If you have a moment, give it a "Like"
Here is the official facebook page: http://on.fb.me/bpRLsG

Here is the nomination form if you're interested: http://bit.ly/INSMS10 - Nominations close Today (December 15) at Midnight EST.

Here is a current list of nominees: http://bit.ly/NominationUpdates
It's creating quite a digital buzz throughout the state and there will be satellite locations so peeps don't have to drive in bad weather.

Hey fellow Facebookers! Some of you may have heard already, but I wanted to give every one a heads-up on the new Facebook App developed right here in Indiana by Digital Hill. It's called TabSite and it's the only app of its kind in the world! It allows you to easily build a website on a personal or fan page without knowing any static FBML. You can sign up for free at http://facebooktabsite.com

Here's some samples:

Hey All you Influential Social Media Peeps out there, check the Blog I posted here on Smaller Indiana about #IndyTwestival http://bit.ly/aXPFwf
I hope you can spare a few moments to include the hashtag #IndyTwestival in a tweet or two on Thursday the 25th (of March 2010).

Better yet attend a twestival event. Valparaiso, Ft. Wayne and Evansville have all volunteered to be Twestival Cities, so this isn't just an #Indy thing. From the Banks of the Ohio to the Shores of Lake Michigan tweeters from all across #Indiana will join tweeters Worldwide in an Awareness raising campaign and fundraiser for @Concern Worldwide. You can read about it in the post above, or visit http://indianapolis.twestival.com for more info.

Thanks, Amy, for the invite. I've been trying to connect with some more "INFluential" smoosiers than I in Social Media. I need beta testers for http://www.posttwo.com.

I outlined my twitter defense against Joe tryin' to SMackdown Get #Indiana2Trend.

@John Karamanski I just posted my "two minutes" rough draft. See the link above. The twitter conversation would NOT be included. =) I hope all is well with the SMackdown Gang.

ATTENTION:
Our own @natfinn wrote a blog about the evolution of coming up with a hashtag that will unify #Indiana's Social Media INfluentia. I think this link takes you to Natt's most recent post, so you have to scroll back a few days. It's entitled "An Open Letter to Amy Stark"

There are two viable options:
#IN_SM
or
#indSM

@John Karamanski - I had a fabulous time, thanks for the Invite. I love hangin' w/ peeps who know about Joseph Campbell and the Socratic method because I know I'll walk away from the encounter with new insights.

@Daniel Herndon I'm thrilled we got to talk and congratulations on Red Wall Live's major ForkOut success and raising money while living in a Van down by the river. =)

@John Cannon - @MyCarDoc - I appreciate the smackdown regarding my misconceptions of email newsletters. I totally deserved it and I'm glad to know it works for you. I'm always thrilled to learn of an Innovative #Indiana company making some noise and making money. I still think tweeting a little joke will get you more traction on twitter than just tweeting specials.

@PaulPoteet I still laugh whenever I think of your #Indiana weather tweet, "Today is almost a pretty as that one Jonas Brother." I'm glad I finally delivered your #TweetersAlmanac. I truly appreciate your carefully crafted tweets.
