Tall In Indy Now On Smaller Indiana

I'm a 6'2 female in the Indianapolis area. I wear a size 12 shoe, 11 if its open toe. I have faced all kinds of fashion issues being tall. Part of what I am wanting to do with Tall In Indy is get involved with fashion. Not only for women, but men and children. I believe Men face the same issues we females do with their wardrobe.

I also want to start support groups for Tall Teens to encourage positive self esteem. I can remember how cruel junior high and high school can be.

I'm looking to find like minded people who are willing to get involved with what I am trying to do for the Tall Community. Please feel free to post your comments and ideas. If you'd be interested in helping me in my adventure please feel free to contact me.

John, I've had some luck at K&G Mens wharehouse located in Target's plaza near Castleton Square Mall. Their styles are definately non-conservative.

Any of you tall folks out there found a good online source for clothes? I've pretty much settled on Lands End, as they have a good selection of "tall" clothing.

The fashion is pretty conservative. OK for work, but not too exciting for anything else.

All the other places I've seen have boring or very out-of-date clothes. Anyone care for a velour pullover from 1989?

Funny, Terry. I share your thoughts. Often I'll be talking with someone quite shorter than myself, and gradually, I tend to hunch myself down in a subconscious effort to attempt to see them more eye-to-eye. This has got to look pretty silly - and I'm sure it's really bad for my back! I've noticed other tall guys doing this, too. I suppose it's meant to not be so aloof, at least physically, from the conversation.

Is it rude for tall people to have good posture... standing tall and erect? However, I am not too concerned on whether it is polite.... but, I do find it hard to not notice, and possibly talk to, people's balding spots... it is more comfortable have conversations sitting.

Hi I'm 6'8". Pants are difficult for me as well. My waist is too small for the big & tall stores. (could never figure that out). Does anyone have any suggestions for pants; I wear 40x38 (inseam)

I think I've seen those....they called them "man-pris." I don't think they lasted on the market that long. Too funny.
Terry East Comment by Terry East on May 22, 2009 at 11:45am
In terms of finding pants.... I find it very frustrating to see people with an inseam of 32" or less wearing pants with pant legs rolled or folded over... and when I go shopping, only finding pants with inseams of 32" or less. Maybe we could start a fashion trend of capri jeans for men... so we could get away with wearing "high-water" pants... but, then again, that would look dorky.
