Snow Leopard is being released on Aug. 28th. Are you an early adopter? or are you going to wait for the first "patch" to be released? I'm still not sure...

I have not had the same issue with Time Machine but there are times when it doesn't complete a backup (for an unknown reason). Overall, the Automatic settings have worked well for me. I use a 320GB LaCie.

P.S.
By backing up manually, I mean that I tell Time Machine to back up now.

Hi all,
Thanks for starting this group. I bought an iMac about a year ago. I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with Time Machine. I'm backing up to a 320GB Simpletech USB hard drive. Sometimes Time Machine starts to backup, but never stops. The indicator light on the hard drive shows it's getting power, but it's not doing anything. If I try to look at the hard drive contents, it doesn't show all of the backups. And sometimes other programs lock up, and I have to force quit to get Time Machine to quit. Then it works normally. I've resorted to not using the automatic backup, but backing up every so often manually, then leaving the Simpletech disconnected and Time Machine off. Everything works fine then. Any ideas as to how to correct this? I haven't been able to find a discussion on the Apple website about this specific problem.

Just joined here. I'm a confirmed PC user and secret Mac admirer. Oh, and I have my stable of iPods that I love dearly and can't live without. The reason I'm joining here is that I've taken the ProTools plunge. I wonder if there are any ProTools experts here. Anyone?

hmmm well for starters of course start backing stuff up, but as far as I know not any way to take stuff off of your iPod unfortunately, unless you can go into the files and copy the files out like you would a thumb drive, instead of going into iTunes library, but i really don't know. The best solution to having this problem in the future would probably be an external drive for back up. but don't feel bad you would be surprised how many companies out there think that "back up " is something you do with your car.

on a side note if any one would like to test out this Silverlight Smooth Streaming on their Macs that would be cool, the video could be better quality if we were closer with the camera, but we are just releasing this site and would like some feed back technical aspect of watching this video on a mac. It is using Windows IIS bitrate throttling feel free to hit our servers and try to jam us up with traffic. http://video.mypersonalgym.com/beginner/day1/default.html

Though I've always had a Mac, going back to that tiny black and white screen, it seems I'm constantly in the dark concerning thinking outside of the box for its uses.
Here's my most recent problem which I hope someone in this group is in the know on. Simply put, my hard drive crashed, lost everything (yes... didn't back up), got new hard drive installed, would like to put music & photos from my iPod onto my new hard drive.
Anyone savvy on the above?
