Has anyone used one of the 'Mr Beer' kits? For $30 I thought I might give it shot.

I brewed 2 batches this weekend. I brewed a Continental European Light and an English Lager. Is anybody else brewing? In about 4 weeks, I will have 3 varieties to sample.

I just made a batch of beer. I made a Porter from a recipe out of "The Fundamentals of Brewing" a book by Joe Striewe. It is the 4th batch I've made. The 1st batch was a Doppelback. It was great!

'Doppelbock. Extra strong bottom fermented dark beer which is traditionally introduced during Lent in Bavaria. Legend has it that the Monks developed the Doppelbock to give them the strength to get through the day as they fasted in preparation for Easter.'

The next 2 batches were wheat, and although everyone likes them, they are not as good as the doppelbock.

I am definitely up for meeting again but got this message little too late. Did anyone meet up on Tuesday? If not, shall we reschedule?

Alright, so we all got bogged down last fall/winter and didn't succeed in our mission! Let's try in regroup: how does Tuesday, May 26th, 6:30pm at the Rathskeller work? Please post if you are interested in attending!!

Why not use RO filtered water? I'd think this would be the best water for making beer.

I've used the Mr. Beer Kit (got one for Christmas last year). First batch of West Coast Pale Ale tasted cidery, but that could be the lovely water (note the sarcasm) we have here in Brownsburg. 2nd batch was a wheat beer similar to Blue Moon...it's pretty darn good. My 3rd batch will be a bock. The Mr. Beer system is very easy to use and since it was a gift, I've had very little investment for some decent beer. :)

Hi Tim!

I don't have any experience with Mr. Beer kits...but I have lots of experience drinking beer. Drinking beer in large quantities costs lots of money and according to some, can cause health problems. Thus, I have invested literally thousands of dollars and risked my life refining my beer drinking skills over decades of unselfish personal investigation.

If you'd like my professional opinion about the quality of your beer product I am available at a discount for beer tastings on weekends! :)

Actually, I'd be willing to drink your beer for free anytime!

Where do you live? I think I can get there tonight.

Thanks,

Kim

I have the following dates available - Friday the 24th or Sunday the 26th (the Colts play on Monday that week). If we can agree on one of those dates, I will send out an invite to the group.
