I feel like I'm walking into the lions, er, cubs den. I'll put it out there...I am NOT a Cubs fan...wait...don't lynch me yet, let me explain why I joined this group.
While the Cubs are not my favorite team, I am a huge baseball fan. I grew up in Elkhart, IN, which is about 2 hours from Chicago and was a Cubs fan until I was 10. My entire family are loyal to the Cubs to the hilt. Want an example? We just had a huge family reunion last month and the theme was "Go Cubbies". I didn't get an invitation. Only a phone call from my dad who told me that my grandmother would allow me to come as long as I wore a Cubs jersey.
Anyway, I have nothing but respect for the Cubs and their long history and their current team. If my team can't win the World Series, I wish the Cubs would.
By the way, my favorite team? The New York Mets. You can thank me for them sweeping the Brewers later ;)

Having lived in Chicago for some years (before moving to Indiana) we left the state but never the fierce loyalty to our Cubs. Wrigley Field is the best place to be on a sunny afternoon - or any afternoon one can make it there. We only made it up there twice this summer but each time it was exhilirating to watch our cubbies sail one over the fence. We cheered and booed and the fans threw back the opponents ball as is always appropriate. Good times are made of this! Great times!

Where is everyone? '08 has been historically shown to be the Cubs year! Nice sweep in Atlanta.

Go Cubs! Big road trip this week. Let's take 4 out of 6 (or just win them all)!

A CUB FANS LAMENT

A storm of depression, an emotional frost;
the series is over, Chicago has lost.
We never had much to cheer for before,
losing was something we chose to ignore.

By now we’re accustomed to coming in last,
a heritage transcended from many years past.
But, this year we knocked upon victory’s gate,
attempting to change what many call fate.

We discovered that “almost winning” is worse,
than just simply losing and blaming the curse.
The glimmer of hope this season shown bright,
casting some doubt that we’d lose every night.

In Cubby tradition, let’s go make some trades,
so this hope of contention eventually fades.
Then, when we lose, it won’t matter at all.
It’s safe on the bottom, with no place to fall.

The mystique of the Cubs, a humble appeal,
a love for the game that no one can steal.
Before we’d have cheered that the season was done,
now we’re lamenting, “If only they’d won.”

I wrote this a few years ago, it still applies. Hope you
all enjoy it.

The Cubs group has grown quiet. Rest up now through the All Star Break, because then we'll have a high energy run to the end of the season.

BTW, no one responded to a group viewing. Not interested? No time? Don't like me?

Did anyone read Wojo's article on ESPN today? Catch it and comment. I already chimed in on my blog, but will chime in more here if the conversation warrants.

Jason Marquis was the salvation? Truly this team is kissed by the gods!

How about a group viewing of a game? What is good for everyone, weekday, weeknight, or weekend?

The Blue Crew in Fishers now plays every Cubs game, and has wi fi access if some of you need to pretend to "work" during a weekday game.
