Promote Bike Lanes with Mayor Ballard

The upcoming Mayor's Bike Ride will be taking place on Saturday, May 16th at 1 p.m. This is a great free family friendly bike ride in which Mayor Greg Ballard will be kicking off and leading the 10 mile route. There is also a shorter 3 mile route. The event begins and ends at Veterans Memorial Plaza and runs along Michigan and New York streets. The bike ride is hosted by the Marion County Health Department, Health by Design coalition and the City of Indianapolis .

Our main goal for this event is to promote use of the new bike lanes on Michigan and New York streets and promote cycling as a legitimate means of transportation to further Health by Design's vision of creating built environments that foster health living. There will be free bike helmets for the first 300 youth you attend as well as several door prizes.
