I think the answer to John's question isn't necessarily in the quality of the dSLR, but in the quality of the lens he (or anyone) is choosing to use with it. I have some spectacular macro shots with my Canon 50D (and my Canon 20D for that matter). I have found that its the lens much more so than the body.

you can buy tubes for a DSLR that change the focal length of a lens. For about $200 you get a set that can be used separately or in tandem to make any lens a "macro". Since there is no glass in them not much distortion.

Greetings:

On many digital cameras, even some of the less expensive ones, there is a setting for "Macro" that digitally compensates focus. Look for that setting, either on the camera or in the menu.

Thanks for your very good question John. I have the same problem and I use a Nikon D90 myself, which why I do not usually take thoes types of photos. How about it folks? Anyone have a good answer for John? Thanks in advance for your help.

Digital Photography

Okay, okay, I know that digital is to photography what McDonald's is to steak, but let's face it, in today's world for the amateur shutterbug just wanting casual snapshots of his kids, it's the economical as well as the choice.

Here's my question:
Why is it that it seems no matter which camera I use, whether it's the camera for home use or just the cam on my phone, I cannot get a decent digital photograph of something close? These are shots I'd use a macro lens wiith my old 35mm, but I've yet to find a digital cam (without spending more money than the down payment on my truck) that does a decent job at intense close-ups, i.e. small still shots, anything within 6 inches of the camera.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?
Is it crappy equipment or a PAO (poor-assed operator, lol) problem?

Just for further clarification on membership to this group.

I would like everyone who is interested, amateurs, part-time shutter bugs, NON-professional models, full-time photographers, and professionally paid models are ALL invited to be a part of this group.

Don't be shy.

If you have even an iota of interest in working as a "time for print" [TFP] or "time for CD of photos" [TFCD] photographer or model, would just like to have an exchange of ideas, or obtain professional work, please feel free to jump in or invite someone you know to join us!
