Learn. Grow. Connect.

That’s how NSA works! Your Indiana chapter has prepared an outstanding schedule of events in September, October and November. In addition, we’re rolling out our new web site which has beneficial information for you as well as for meeting planners looking for a speaker with your talents.

Fall 2008 meeting dates are:

• Thursday, September 25
o Both a member-only session and a member/guests session
• Tuesday, October 21
o Member-only event at the home of Pam Burks
• Thursday, November 13
o Both a member-only session and a member/guests session

Meeting times are different, so be sure to check the Meeting time and logistics link on the Home Page. We encourage you to consider bringing a guest.

Click on this link http://www.nsa-indianaspeakers.com/ to visit our new site for more information and to register. There’s a member-only discount if you pre-pay for all three events. Now, here’s a glimpse of what Phillip Van Hooser, our September 25 speaker, will bring us:
“How to Re-Think, Re-Position and Re-Tool Your Way to Speaking Success”
Phillip Van Hooser MBA, CSP, CPAE
Common Sense Thinking Regarding Uncommon Business Practices That May Help Grow Your Business and Possibly Make (or Save) You Gobs of Cash in the Process
Can you challenge the conventional wisdom and thrive? You bet! Phillip Van Hooser did.

I'm a former TV reporter/anchor, Lilly spokesperson and international communications advisor. Having been in front of a camera -- asking questions or answering them -- speaking in front of groups was a natural part of the job. When I joined the National Speakers Association 12 years ago, I learned the fine points of running a speaking business. The learning curve was very quick--thanks to NSA and all the wonderful educational programs --both at the local and national level. If you do plan to earn money by speaking in your area of expertise, it behooves you to come to NSA-Indiana meetings. Here's the website: http://www.nsa-indianaspeakers.com/

Hi fellow speakers.

On July 21st, on 40th and Meridian in Indianapolis, from 12-2pm, the Mastermind group will be holding an open house to attract 3-4 new members.

The group has been up and running for almost 4 years and we meet monthly to share ideas, information, and our resources.

There is not cost to attend. And there is not cost for membership.

You just have to meeting the following requirement for attending and to be considered for membership.

1. You’re a professional speaker / trainer / consultant with a passion for your work
2. A published, or soon to be published author
3. Love the idea of connecting with other professional to build your speaking and writing career.

If interested in attending, please contact Ron Sukenick @ 317-216-8210 to learn more.

I am not yet a member of NSA, but am interested in public speaking. I invite members of this group to "My Friends" and to visit my website, www.WriterSeries.com.

I'm impassioned about speaking and want to forge ahead to becoming a professional speaker.

Having taken a sabatical from speaking for several years to get my Ph.D., I'm back. I am a Past-President of NSA-Indiana Chapter and am almost as good as Deno Rousopoulos...but with more hair.

I'm not actually a member of that association. Do a lot more free lance stuff. What are the advantages of being involved?

I was recently at an event where the speaker had a very good topic. It was on subject and upbeat. Then the speaker chose to end it with a very sad illustration that was personal to many people in the room. There were hundereds of other stories that could have been used, while this one was a good illustration, it was inappropriate for the room. What started off as a good speech, crashed at the end. Moral of the story, know your audience.

Welcome David, are you a member of the national speakers association? Thought you might be since you have been speaking for 10 years.

Hi Guys, I've been speaking professionally for 10 years with Youth Specialties out of Southern California. This year I've also had the opportunity to write a book (Chew on This - Zondervan) for students and youth workers. I'm currently sitting in my hotel room in Toronto, CA preparing to speak tomorrow morning. I lead a day long seminar for Youth Workers, Parents and Students. I'm also working on a video-based website called www.justlife.tv which is kicking off in September and is meant to encourage spiritual conversations between friends. I live in Fishers and would be interested in continuing this conversation with people who know and understand what this lifestyle is all about...
