Making people and ideas findable

DPW held their weekly project meeting on Tuesday. I received the following email regarding their discussion of the event:

From: "Chappell, Bill"
To: Andrew Ball
Cc: "Zieles, Bob"
Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2008 11:00:10 AM
Subject: RE: Market Street Ramp

Well, they didn’t say no, but they didn’t say yes either. At this point, with the schedule so uncertain, the contractor was reluctant to commit to any delay in demolition. Also, there were concerns raised by INDOT about liability, and how that would be addressed. That said, there was an acknowledgement that there would be public relations value to be gained with the event.

It will be awhile before we can determine how the schedule will look this fall. We cannot give you a commitment at this time, but if you’re comfortable proceeding without it, you could do some initial planning, etc.

At our Chatterbox meeting, someone said that they had an insurance contact and would be looking into coverage. I think we should put together information for DPW/INDOT regarding what we intend to provide so we can get this hurdle removed.

Next idea: first a disclaimer - I'm not a raving techie... I have heard/read about something I am calling a viral event. Someone or some group sends out a text message, IM, posts a blog, etc. announcing an event which will happen within 1 hour or 1 day (i.e., a short time period) and hundreds of people show up. If we can get the contractors to agree to allow the event but can't commit to a date, we could build up the event, draw attention to it and let people know it will be announced using various instant electronic methods and posts.

comments? suggestions? next steps? next meeting beer?

American Business Insurance in Greenwood, Derek Lacy, is committed to donating the money for the policy for sponsorship of the event.. I have called him about getting that document in INDOTs hand pronto.

Let's meet soon. I am generally open. Perhaps Tomorrow after work?

Help

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:

1. We want to know your real name...Please use your real name (first and last) when registrering, or we cannot open your account

2. We want to know the real you...Please do NOT use your Smaller Indiana blog for blatant self promotion

3. We want to see your smiling face...Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

4. Events should be posted in the events calendar, not inside blog posts

5. Please do NOT post commercial video (demo reels), or Corporate Website promotions in your blog

6. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.
