Letter to Elected Representatives
As my senator, I urge you to do everything in your power (made possible by my vote) to approve legislation to open ANWR and off-shore drilling sites here in the US. Congress must act now to open up our own land to begin exploration and drilling for new sources of oil. We can no longer rely on oversees sources as this jeopardizes our national security position and puts the future of our economy in the hands of those who will us harm. New sources of oil are critical for our nation's economic future. In tandem with oil, we need to be aggressively adding clean coal and nuclear energy as viable sources of energy and serious initiatives should be/must be supported.
Your Indiana constituents are watching you and others in Congress, Senator Lugar. Your actions now to positively affect our nation's and state's economy will either keep you in office as a true proponent of the citizenry of Indiana or will find you seeking other employment. We are more than tired of the impotence of Congress. The time to act is now. The time to put politics aside is long passed. Environmentalists do not speak for me or most of my fellow Hoosiers. Technology has come so far. Drilling here and now can and will be done safely and thoughtfully. You know that.
As a member of Congress, please do not get in the way of the future success of our nation. Be the solution and use the power that we, the voters, have endowed upon you to act on our behalf. Drill here. Drill now.
