Making people and ideas findable

I found this today on the Indy Star letters to the editor section, in the Talk Back comments. Jerry from Indianapolis apparently thinks that the LORD appointed our current President...

******

Bush, a Christian, was appointed to his position by the LORD. The LORD knew what was coming and ensured that we would have the most fit leader in place to deal with the Muslim animals.

We are at war. Hello! Do you not understand that the economy has been as good as it is during this holy war BECAUSE OF Bush's wise policies, founded in and of CHRIST?

Opposing the President at this time is not only defiance towards the will of HIM, but treason against the US Government. We are at war, and we must stand behind those who lead us in CHRIST. To do otherwise gives aid to our greatest enemies. We must smite with the sword of the RIGHTEOUS and bring down the muslim animals who would bring us down. Let those who do not support this great fight be locked up where they can do no further harm!

I for one will proudly cast my vote for John McCain. Many men of wisdom and true faith support him. For anyone to do otherwise would be to abandon our men and women in uniform and bring catastrophe upon our great CHRISTIAN nation!

Blessings

"...our great CHRISTIAN nation..."

This is the scariest part. I've always thought of the US as the great melting pot - all colors and creeds.

I think I've met Jerry... at least he's not currently running for office. Yet.

Regarding our great "Christian" nation: the founders of this nation went to great lengths to flee religious persecution. They did not endorse any religion, much less Christianity, as an official religion of state.

I'd suggest Alan Dershowitz's well-researched book, "Blasphemy: How the Religious Right is Hijacking the Declaration of Independence" for an in depth analysis into the political and religious climate during which our nation was founded. It's a great read for anyone who cherishes the (continued) separation of church and state.

I was just wondering if Nancy Pelosi thought the collapse of banks and markets around the world are also due to "the Bush administration's failed policies over the last 8 years."
