LEGISLATIVE ACTION ALERT

ONE YEAR HOUSE BUDGET CUTS $70 MILLION FOR 21ST CENTURY TECHNOLOGY FUND

The one year state budget (SS1001) under consideration by the House of Representatives fails to include a $70 million appropriation for the 21st Century Research and Technology Fund.

"The House Ways & Means Committee is at it again - passing a budget that rolls back one of our most important catalysts for innovation," said Jim Jay, TechPoint president. "It's essential that we renew the 21st Century Fund appropriation and send the message that Indiana isn't retreating from our efforts to build a high-tech economy."

By removing the funding for the 21 Fund, the budget has relegated the Fund to a point of non-existence. TechPoint's advocacy will focus on lawmakers in the Senate to remedy this issue, and restore funding to the 21 Fund.

TechPoint urges its friends to contact legislators and request they restore full funding for the 21st Century Fund.
