A friend of mine that used to live in Westfield moved to Portland and is working for a company called Eleven Wireless.

Primary job responsibilities:

You will be the senior technical leader in our Transition Engineering group. This group is responsible for transitioning new products and software releases to production. You will work closely with development during the release phase of the project. Your role will include learning the new product from a technical and operating perspective and preparing the product for release to production.

As part of the release you will develop documentation and tools in order to train production staff on the product including installation and diagnostic procedures. Once released, you will be the go-to technical person for escalations from the production staff that may need to be presented to the development team. You will be able to analyze code and assist the development team in understanding where issues may be found.

You will have excellent troubleshooting skills, be highly technical, and have an excellent understanding of database structure, C#, and a good understanding of network protocols.

This role will include:

• Troubleshooting proprietary and 3rd-party software
• Developing technical solutions to software problems
• Developing documentation to support the release of the product
• Creating and documenting workaround procedures when standard procedure fails
• Consistent follow-through to ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion

Other things you’ll be asked to do:

• Provide operational and customer support for our products.
• Get a Microsoft Certification.
• Provide emergency support on a 24/7 basis as part of an on-call rotation.

Requirements:

• 3+ years experience as a Software Support Engineer
• Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills for both internal and external interaction
• Ability to review programming code to find direction for troubleshooting issues
• Ability to write SQL code to analyze data issues
• Understanding of network communication
• Thorough understanding of Microsoft operating systems
• Comfortable with the Mac operating system and shell
• Skilled at systematic analysis to drill down on the correct cause
• Good listening skills to understand problems and underlying issues
• Excellent problem solver
• Experience working within a software development environment
• Demonstrated ability to follow and develop process
• Experience developing tools to automate production activities
• Experience developing a sound testing methodology
• Experience with software quality assurance

Even better:

• Programming experience with object-oriented languages and SQL
• Experience with web applications
• Experience with Nomadix and IP3 gateway devices
• Linux guru
• Bash shell scripting
• Windows scripting
• Experience with software configuration management

Position location:

• Must be located in or already planning to move to Portland, Oregon (no relocation costs will be covered)

Travel:

• Minimal
