Making people and ideas findable

I had to join this group because of my connection to the Sopranos- they filmed in my hometown! I think I saw more of them filming than I did of regular episodes due to the lack of HBO in my house. But I'm interested to know- what has the show made you think of New Jersey? Positive? Negative? Both? (Hopefully both!) Just opening the forum for some delightful discussion.

My boyfriend and I just made it through all the seasons on DVD last week. All 86 hours, I think! (Note: It took us about three months.) I'm curious to know how the the real NJ and the TV NJ differ.

I lived in New Jersey for about two years (mid-90s) so I know that there are several different parts of Jersey (or as some say Joisey). In central Jersey (Somerset County), we were a far cry from the Sopranos' northern Jersey style of living. I always cringe when I hear people bash New Jersey because they think the whole state is like Newark.
