On-Spec 1 Reply

This could be a spin-off on Erik's "don't write for free" post a while back. Do any of you write for magazines on-spec? If so, why? Isn't it much the same as writing for free?

Sorry I missed the big pow-wow last night. We had a "surprise" family member show up! Nice, huh?! Anyway, I hope everyone had a good time, and I can't wait to hear all about it!

Hi All! My profile page is geared toward my home business, but I am also a freelance writer and a literary agent. This is a great group. I can't wait to interact.

I just joined Smaller Indiana after meeting its founder at a conference. What a great concept. I love seeing that other Hoosier writers are working on interesting projects and struggling with similar issues. I'm just getting a blog going and ran into one you all might find interesting if you enjoy short fiction. He writes 299 word novels--interesting and brief. He's at www.davidbale.wordpress.com. I don't know the guy or have any interest but thought you might enjoy. I'm currently doing business writing/consulting as my "day job" and working on my first nonfiction book in my "spare" time (in addition to raising a couple of kids). Best to you all.
