What a bummer! I love the Bean Cup... especially since winter is coming. Gotta get some kind of frothy foo-foo java concoction while watching snowflakes fall. Thanks for your reply, Aaron. I'll be there.

I'm not getting burned out on social media, but I am getting burned out on the "Social Media" label the same way that hearing the word "cyberspace" made me cringe back in 1996. Anybody remember that one? Using facebook as a social media example, ...

Is the South Side Smoosiers meeting on at the Bean Cup tonight? 6:00? 6:30?

It's time that Southside was represented here on Smaller Indiana! The purpose of the Techie Smoosiers is to connect those of us who live South of Indianapolis to share, learn and provide support to each other.

CoWorking is exactly what I've been wanting! Being an extrovert now in my 12th year as a work-from-home web developer is not an ideal situation to be in. Location-wise, working somewhere around Greenwood to Franklin west of 31 is closest for me.

Hello Andrew! My name is Debbie Gray and I am a local coordinator for Council on International Educational Exchange. I am currently seeking people to host international high school exchange students in the Franklin Community High School area. If you know of anyone who might be interested in learning more about this exciting opportunity to open their hearts and home, please send him/her my contact information and the link to CIEE's website. I would appreciate your referrals and we do have a small referral fee for you or the charity of your choice if someone you refer does indeed host. The website is www.ciee.org/hostfamily and my contact info is 812-373-0373 home; 812-764-4433 mobile; debgray@sbcglobal.net. Please also let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much for your time and consideration. Best regards, Debbie Gray

Heard about it at the Southside Smoosier Tech Club gathering. I'm a "Bean Cup" regular customer. (Well... half-caf, actually.)

I'm listening to you!

I'm a professional web guy and dad of 2.

I discovered Smaller Indiana through a Southside Smoosier's Tech Club get-together. The gatherings are quite a thrill because it gives me a chance to get out and meet people face-to-face who speak my language.

Having been a professional web guy since '96 I've accumulated a roster of clients including mom-and-pop shops, charitable non-profits (built the very 1st sites for the Indianapolis chapters of the American Red Cross and Make-A-Wish Foundation), and scale up to organizations representing more than $3B in annual sales. The experience has given me wide and deep exposure to many tools, technologies, and strategies related to web development and marketing across several industries. Blah blah blah...

What's next? With the kids being out of school for the summer I will be focusing more of my time on being my kids' dad while building a new parenting organization to make a positive impact on our nation. Ja, that sounds idealistic, and it is.

Think about this: As parents we encounter so many fleeting moments with our children where, in a split second, your expression or response can have a lifelong impact on your kids. Ordinary events could be turned into an "ah-ha" moment that has a lasting impact on their inherent sense of wonder and ambition.

It's a fact that most parents have little or no experience in parenting until they have kids of their own. It's like getting a car without a license to drive. You may understand the concept, but you may not reach your destination without having a wreck along the way. Grandparents have quite a lot of experience, and their weariness from raising children the first time around usually shows.

Working in conjunction with our nation's leaders in child development, academics, and industry, our new membership organization is actively helping parents to engage in accelerating their own learning by providing an up-close and personal look into the lives of real parents.

This new approach will have a lasting impact in the home, in the classroom (let's stop forcing teachers into being surrogate parents), industry, and ultimately serves to be an integral part of founding a better nation for future generations.

We are going to need content contributors. Every parent with a child has a story to share. The business plan is tested and proven in other industries to exponentially break profit records. Investment capital will be considered. Anybody with a child who wants to learn can join. Memberships will be available for a trial basis sometime this summer '09.

In the meantime: Say Hi!

Andrew
