Review: Stutz Art Gallery Tour

I attended the Stutz Art Gallery tour on Friday night. I arrived late, but the event ran until 11:00 p.m., so I had about eighty minutes to take in what I could. It was fast, furious, fun and fascinating. I want to comment on the artists and the work that impressed me the most.

An Experiment in Electronic Publishing

I've just put together a little "publication," I guess you'd call it, in PDF format. It's 12 pages long, with selections of my most recent poetry, with a few illustrations. It's called, "Sirens in Deep Space." I created it in MS Word (geez, I hate that program but it's all I've got for WP) and printed it to PDF using a converter called "CutePDF Writer." I met SI member Brian Graham at his business, Hot Shotz ("A Gastropub"). He exclaimed, "You've lost weight!" I said, "Does my picture make me look fat? Do these pants make my butt look big?" I made him laugh. Anyway, now I'm getting a complex about my profile photo. The full-size version is my main publicity pic and it looks OK. Maybe it's the squished-down headshot that doesn't do me justice. I'm going to try a different pic for a while...

My latest art project came from a visualization (not a dream) that I did with my eyes closed, which is a good way to start something and then let it grow organically after you capture the basic inspiration. I don't have a name for it yet. I would consider suggestions, if anyone wants to chime in. Otherwise, I'm sure a name will come to me soon.
