CFL Bulbs and Mercury - Is this stuff as bad as Kryptonite?

Good morning peeps! I've seen this question pop up a few times lately so let's take a look.

"I've heard that CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) contain Mercury. Can this be dangerous if one of the breaks?"

Greetings to all from an igloo in Franklin, Indiana. My commute lasted all of 12 seconds yesterday, and fortunately a neighbor with a shovel was able to assist me in re-parking the vehicle in my driveway. I rolled out of bed this morning expecting to have to drive through a lot of snow in order to get to the office.
