Branded for Life - Is branding more than a logo?

Funny little story about branding. I'm branded. I have a classic heart tattoo with my wife's name on my right arm. It's cliche but I love it.

One day a buddy of mine asked what would happen if we would get a divorce. "I can't believe you put her name there. That's just stupid."

Obviously, he was divorced. "It was a wedding present. My choice," I said. "And I'm not getting a divorce."

"But what if you do?" he asked.

"I'll cut my arm off," I said jokingl… Continue

Marketers, do you want to save your job and the company in this recession? Use real customer service and social media.

Several things happened last week that made me take notice. And since I don’t believe in coincidences, I had to pull it altogether in my mind.

First, an amazing client story.

J.D. Gould Company is a family-owned business. It’s been around since 1951. They make solenoid valves. It’s really hard to get excited about solenoid valves unless maybe you are an engineer but, according to the client, a lot of engineers don’t think about them as much as they once… Continue

How can the Motrin benefit from their advertising screw-up?

Use the very thing that bit them. Social Media. Let me explain.

So they totally screw-ed up. Motrin ran this ad on their site and moms around the world were offended (check out this blog from Sarah Evans) and struck back. Motrin brand managers quickly pulled the ad campaign and threw up an apology on the front page of the website. Chec… Continue

Hello, I am new to Smaller Indiana and thought I would reach out to connect and say hello. My name is Brandon and I am the Director for Musical Medicine. We build music libraries for hospitals.

Are you planning on attending the Chocolate Blues and Business Networking Festival next Thursday? I hear it's going to be huge, they expect about 1,500 people to attend. It should be a great networking day! I have free tickets, if you need a ticket, let me know and I'll email you one. If you want more details about it, it's listed under events on the 26th.

Have a good day and I look forward to networking with you. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for you,
Brandon

Would love to see that stats...

I think it's great that social media can be leveraged to raise awareness and deliver practical help to people who need. it. Where food is concerned, however, I am torn about promoting companies who use hormones, antibiotics and other chemicals to produce cheap food that is not nutritious. From what I understand, Tyson is among the biggest offenders.

Meanwhile, our local, organic producers of veggies, eggs, beef, pork, poultry, etc are scratching by trying to offer food that is natural and good.

I would love to see SI dream up a viral campaign to raise awareness, demand and even money for local farmers.

Any thoughts?
