Who is Smaller Indiana?

I rec'd an email the morning of Bigger Ideas from Mike Karnuta from the Indiana Sports Corporation and it inspired me to write and tell this to the crowd at Bigger Ideas.

We are the misfits.
We are the rebels.
We are the troublemakers.
We are the round pegs in the square holes.
We are the ones who see things differently.
We're not fond of rules.
And we have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote us. Disagree with us.
Glorify, or vilify us.

Is Central Indiana the Online Marketing Capital of the World?

This week I wrote a post that I'd really appreciate your input on. I came up with 50 different companies here in central Indiana that provided online marketing products or services. The list may surprise you - some of these companies are small, some large - but the value they bring as well as the growth they are incurring is much better than the average business (especially in this economic environment).

Please visit the post on my blog and write about your great experiences with these companie… Continue

Indianapolis tops list for best cities for new graduates to live and work!

Thanks to Dr. Thomas Ho for sending me this fantastic news:

Great to see Indianapolis topping the list of cities for new graduates to live and work! From the article: The list is based on the ranking of the top U.S. cities with the highest concentration of young adults (age 20 - 24) from the U.S. Census Bureau (2006), inventory of jobs requiring less than one year of experienceContinue

IBJ: Indianapolis tech firms’ national stars rising

I'm not trying to promote my own company here - but the promotion of ANY Indianapolis business on a national level should be cause for celebration.

BusinessWeek did a great article on the Most Promising Startups in the country and Vontoo and Compendium Blogware both made the list!

Hello Douglas,
I joined Smaller Indiana when I got laid off this winter and started networking.
I have since received my real estate license and are also selling auto's for toyota. This site has helped a great deal.
If there is anything I can help you with, please do not hesitate to ask.
See at the next event.

Hi Doug,

I briefly spoke with Pat last week about the new instant message widget that you integrated into the SI site. Is the widget itself something that was created specifically for the ning sites or is it free for all sites to use? I know Meebo just launched a new IM feature as a service, but would really like to integrate the feature into my non-ning site for free. Is there a way to do this?

Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks,

Arik Flanders

Hello, I am new to Smaller Indiana and thought I would reach out to connect and say hello. My name is Brandon and I am the Director for Musical Medicine. We build music libraries for hospitals.

Are you planning on attending the Chocolate Blues and Business Networking Festival next Thursday? I hear it's going to be huge, they expect about 1,500 people to attend. It should be a great networking day! I have free tickets, if you need a ticket, let me know and I'll email you one. If you want more details about it, it's listed under events on the 26th.

Have a good day and I look forward to networking with you. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for you,
Brandon

Help

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:

1. We want to know the real you...Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. We want to know the real you...Please do NOT use your Smaller Indiana blog for blatant self promotion

3. We want to see your smiling face...Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

4. Events should be posted in the events calendar, not inside blog posts

5. Please do NOT post commercial video (demo reels), or Corporate Website promotions in your blog

6. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

7. Smaller Indiana is supported by its members, and by corporate sponsors. If you're interested in learning more about sponsorship, please call Pat Coyle at 317 332 7878.
