Tired of All the Anger

We're angry in this country. Angry, exasperated, outraged, filled with righteous self-indignation. We're a nation of upset people, and there's no apparent reason for it.

Whose fault is it? Who's making us so mad?

The Other Guy.

If you're into politics, it's the other side's fault. If you're in business, it's the competition's fault, or the customer's fault. If you have a neighbor, it's his fault.

Someone cut in line? They're an…

Screw You Revue NOT for the Faint-Hearted or Easily Offended

I don't recommend that the very first show you see at the Indy Fringe Theatre Festival is one where they use the F-bomb like commas. Where one of the stars yells racist and homophobic slurs out to the audience, and then asks if any of the people in question are in the audience before saying, "It don't matter, I'd still say this s*** anyway."

But that's what I did. First show I saw, right off the bat, was the Screw You…

Looking for reviewers for Indy Fringe Theatre 2011

It's Indy Fringe Theatre Festival time again, and Smaller Indiana is looking for bloggers. This is the 7th year of the festival, and my 4th year to be involved as a reviewer and coordinator. Each year keeps getting better and better, and I'm hoping that we can play some small part in helping the festival grow.

This year, we'll have 56 shows, 288 shows on 6 stages over 10 days, and we've got a wide variety of shows: musical acts, magical acts, one-man and one-woman shows. If you…

The Indy Fringe Theatre is giving away tickets to anyone interested in reviewing some pretty awesome shows on Friday, March 25th, as part of their women playwriting contest.
The Fringe is adding a new dimension to their theatrical offerings, and invited three female playwrights/performers from NY, SF and Toronto to perform the weekend of March 25/26/27. Our local playwrights will perform the weekend of April 29, 30 and May 1, and reviewer passes are also available for that…

That's cool. I just realized that:) You look serious in your picture in the GFR, and kinda goofy in this one, I don't know any other explanation for me missing that:)

How long have you been writing for them?

Hi Erik!
I'd like to be a part (any way you want to use me) for the Fringe Festival. I understand it will be on/near Mass Ave...or anywhere you say.. My nephew is presently on tour with this group (in Edinburg, Scotland last I talked w him yesterday). It's getting tremendously good reviews every where their group has been going. They're originally out of LA, went to Canada, and now in England. I think they swing back here later...and then Australia later in the year. I'd love to let him know I'm doing my part here in Indy!!! Erik,
Still need bloggers for "Wating with M'Godot"? I'd be interested in August 21st or 23rd.

Erik:
If you still need bloggers for Fringe, I'd love to talk with you about it. I'm a journalist — writer and editor — with 20 years of full-time experience in newspapers, magazines and on the Web. I also have an MFA in theater performance. I recently returned to Indy after 9 years in Chicago, and would love to immerse myself in the Fringe and get to know my hometown again. I can be available most nights for shows and blogging. Hope to hear from you.
