@Jon I do think @Chad disagrees. I know I do. There is a huge separation in our fundamental beliefs. As far as an orgs(I have never called them that) goal being to raise money, I think most would believe their cause is the focus, not the money. I d…

Jon, I think everyone on this thread would agree with you. Social Media alone is a failed strategy. If I implied anything of the sort, I was wrong. Social Media allows you to extend offline communications online and if you are not allowing your onli…

Very well said @Amy! Many Nonprofits when first starting their venture into Social Media is in promotion of an event. Therefore they tend to look at SM as an event rather then treating it as a communication vehicle. An excerpt from Chris Brogan's p…

Great question Pat, and I really enjoyed the quality and simple answers to the issues. Just about all of them have merit and can make significant differences. 1. Commerical Company: At first I objected to this statement since many people think that…

Can Selling be this simple - YEP!

I was going to talk about sales & distribution channels, hour glasses and funnels but why, when a pand-handler did it so eloquently.

Should marketing care about cash flow?

Your marketing team needs to look at things differently to help you succeed in a tough market. Think of ways that you can make your customers feel more like part of a team that is helping each other get through these times. If you do that, your bill may not end up on the bottom of the pile.

Competitive Advantage - What is yours?

We all want one? Do we all have one? Can everyone in your organization name it? Can everyone of your customers name it? But it is not only about an organization, if you are looking for a job, what is yours?

Here are some tactics in developing one:

Interview with Amy Stark of Stark Reality

I had the pleasure of interviewing Amy Stark of Stark Reality. We discussed the use of Social Media for Nonprofits and most specifically, Twitter. Mirror Your Customer - Your Process

In a previous post(this is post 5 of 5), I asked these questions:
1. Do you understand your customers buying process?
2. Does your marketing mirror that process?
3. Do you have specific marketing messages that your customer receives at critical points in that process?
4. If you did, would your marketing be more effective?

Since the buying process is defined by the customer, it should not seem anymore that it is subjective, it is pretty objective at this point based on the previous series of pos… Continue

Hey Joe:
I just had a brain fart. I picked up the stuff at Frontline along with several other items and called Wild Hare and talked to your wife and thanked her. Then it dawned on me that it was what you promised.

Thanks so much for the donation to the event tomorrow evening!

Hey Joe, I grew up in Ft. Wayne-- (Go Northrop!) and my mom still lives there, so I often visit.

Next time I'm there, could we meet for a cup of coffee? I got my MA in Philanthropic Studies in December and I am introducing Indy's Not-for-profits to Social Media.

Is it possible to sell something for FREE to Not-For-Profits and make a living? Anyhow, I would like to learn more about how you do it. I am very impressed with your branding, by the way. I am still new, and mine is a work in progress.

Hi Joe,

I've been meaning to ask you, I think I saw you last Thursday at the Chamber of Commerce. I was there for the Umbrella Series, put on by Labov & Beyond, but later when I was looking for you to introduce myself, I didn't see you.
