Integrate Social Media into Your Marketing Strategy

The guest post today is by Shelley Cadamy is currently the Business & Entrepreneurial Services Coordinator for Francis Tuttle Technology Center.  She assists start-up as well as existing small businesses in strategy development and implementation. About a year ago, I fell into being a “social media expert.” I use the quotes, because I’m really not [...]

The Arrival of My Twitter Marketing for Dummies Book

I have been waiting with great anticipation for the delivery of my book, Twitter Marketing for Dummies. It has been a long (but awesome) process of writing, editing, and brainstorming over different concepts involved in marketing through Twitter. I couldn’t have done it without Erik Deckers, the Wiley Staff, Manny Hernandez, and the staff at Brandswag. It [...]

The Problem with Fear

I was driving to work this morning listening to a great track by Sujan Stevens… reminiscing about my “musical” days in college. I played guitar for a long time and have just recently put it aside for other hobbies and activities. I want you to know that I have never… ever… ever talked about this [...]

Quality, Service, and Expertise Do Not Matter

I am currently in a sales training class at Trustpointe, a Sandler Sales Company, who I highly recommend  to anyone looking for sales training and expertise. We were talking about the idea of quality, service, and expertise not mattering when involved in marketing communications. I have been wrestling with that concept over the past 48 [...]

Quit With All the BS. Let’s Create Business!

An Honest Confession. The Problem with Fear

Defining Change As An Individual

I found this amazing example of kinetic typography last night and it created an idea that is not new... but needs to be rehearsed and rewritten hundreds if not thousands of times. Do we fully understand the power we have as an individual? Do we fully understand the power we have as a community of individuals?

I am not speaking of change in a political sense but change in a single... solitary way... a change in individuality that has the power to spread across the many platfor… Continue

My Top 10 Twitter Business Applications

TwitterHawk is a real time targeted marketing engine that allows you to search Twitter on a chosen topic (or keyword) and will either auto-reply to that person or generate a list of matches for you to respond or reject. The point of this application is to hit the conversation while it is happening and they follow up. Make sure you are being s… Continue

Screw Stats. It is about Portability and Experiences

I co-hosted a webinar last Thursday with Chris Baggott of Compendium Blogware entitled Getting a Grip on Social Media. The first slide of my presentation simply says: Screw Stats. This is applied to the idea that we can run around statistics and figures all we want but the most important thing to understand is the future of portabil… Continue

Hi Kyle,
you are a busy guy, quite the networker. Thank you for my first welcome.
I guess being an alternative health practitioner makes me curious about others and I look forward to meeting new people. Indiana could be California with the internet,,,we are just a click away from meeting a potential friend.

Hi Kyle,
Thanks for feedback.
To answer your questions;
I don't know if I love Indiana yet as I haven't gotten there, but everything looks good so far. I am moving to South Bend in the middle of spring. The few times I have been there I was very impressed and I am looking forward to this move.
As for your second question; I don't know at this time how it could be a better place. I haven't spent any real time there yet. However as I get settled in I'm sure I'll have my comments.
Thanks again,
Sincerely,
Dudley

LOL I didn't realize it came out as smoosier! But, it's catchy! I photograph Indiana while not doing shoots... I wait around a little for an appointment, then .. out the door! So, that's what I do. I like to show the angle of what we do, when we're not really doing anything in particular except living.... I enjoy photographing families, but will park and get out and shoot whatever I feel would make a nice portrait. It doesn't have to have people in it. Indiana is my favorite state and I am proud to be able to show my "take" on its beauty. Thanks for stopping by my page and don't forget me if you ever need a photographer!

Thanks, Kyle. I love the fact that there are so many options for things to do in our state and all of the history that Indiana has to offer.

Thank you, Kyle. I agree with everything people said before me. I really love it here. People are super nice. Lots of family-friendly places to visit. Beautiful country side and city attractions right next to each other. I like hot weather, but it can get boring too. Most of all, my kids are happy and have lots of friends - at this point it's what matters to me.

Indiana is a great place to raise a family. I grew up in what was rural central Florida, it is no longer rural and neither is the Indianapolis metro area but Indiana is still primarily a rural state. My wife and I moved to Carmel after a ten year stent in Richmond, VA. My job at the time had me traveling heavily between Richmond, VA and Long Island, NY. Although I loved the history and culture of the east coast, I had concerns on raising my kids in the sometimes difficult environment. We jumped at an opportunity which would bring us to Indy. My wife was born and raised here and I had traveled here a number of times for family functions and on business for conventions. I liked that downtown Indy was very welcoming and safe, as compared to NYC, Philly, Baltimore, DC and Richmond. In addition the cost of living was less, the people friendly and a greater sense of community. After ten years of being here, I couldn’t be happier.

On making Indiana better, the biggest issue is the fiscal problems in Indy. I believe the Mayor and Governor have worked hard to correct the issues in Marion County but if Indy is not healthy and vibrant the surrounding counties will suffer. That does not suggest the doughnut counties have to bail the city out, but all need to work together to ensure the health and future of the metro area. The Indianapolis metro area is the heart of Indiana, the stronger you make the heart, the better you make the rest of the state.

Kyle,

Do you do anything in music? I taught elementary music for 32 years, but the piano and arranging choral pieces is what I really enjoy.

Tell me about yourself.
Thanks.

Indiana is an excellent place to call home. It's got all the amenities of the big city and the comfort of small towns. If Indiana was georgraphically located closer to the equator, it would be my favorite state.
