The cart and the horse: Social media and blogging

So, here’s a classic: Which comes first…the cart or the horse? Seems as though this question arises in pretty much every scenario. Business, personal, whatever. So after a pretty intensive meeting a couple of weeks ago here are my thoughts on the matter.

The Horse: I’ll…

Social Media and "One-Upping"

So, I’m not a big one-upper. You all know who I’m talking about…those people out there that make it more about themselves and being better and getting more than doing what they do out of pure joy in seeing relationships that grow from what they do. When I’m around those types, I can literally feel my energy drain…as if a blood-sucking vampire has come to reel me in. I have to regroup. Refocus. Come to understand that it’s okay…I’m… Continue

Reaching Out: The Value of Online Relationships

I have taken some time off over this past holiday. I typically tweet and FB on a daily basis. I also spend a lot of time thinking about my clients, how I can rock it out for them, and make lists of things that need to be done or blog topics that need to be covered in my (or their) voice. But for a total of eight days, I hardly did anything. I sat back. I reflected.… Continue

Foursquare and the music industry

Do you know how many times I have heard that one of my favorite bands has been in town and I had no idea? It’s always the “next day,” and I’m like, “What, how in the heck did I miss that?” A lot!

Well, first off, I don’t put myself in the ‘tech geek’ category (no offense anyone), because I don’t consider myself one. I’m not the ‘all-knowing’ Foursquare girl either. I’ve just begun playing with it. I immerse myself in social media… Continue

All We Have Are Our Love and Our Guts, Baby...and They're All Over the Road

I need to open this out by saying how humbled I was yesterday by the amount of emails, direct messages, phone calls, and texts that came in to see how I was doing in light of some things that were said about my profession and business. I want to thank you all for your support and love. My community lifted me up and for that, I am entirely grateful.

When I decided to write about what I do for a living last week in my blog, there were no defenses up. It was not a post defending my… Continue

LOL! So, you play in a punk band but don't really listen to punk? Blasphemy!! Never heard of any of those band besides the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Fugazi is dope. I love their 13 songs album. I don't normally post links, but, you really need to listen to this song:

If this song doesn't get you hype, you aren't alive.
