The Making Of "On Your Back Porch"

All the physical copies of my new EP are hand-made. Here's a quick glimpse into what that really means!!

Lovin's for Fools (Sarah Siskind Cover)

This is such a pretty song by Sarah Siskind; also covered by Bon Iver.

happy holidays!!!

happy holidays from me to you :) i look kind of sad in this for some reason, but i promise that i'm not! merry christmas!!

Change - Taylor Swift Cover

I was trying to do this song for a contest....so I wanted to be creative. Creativity + little time = slight sloppiness. BUT also fun! Hope you like it. I am hearting Taylor Swift majorly right now, as is the majority of America, I feel.

I know that in our town, the city has a stage that can be rented out. It's on a trailer so that it's easily portable. You might check to see if the city/town would have something you could rent out for a local venue.

Best bet will be a local high school choir dept or possibly a church.

A tribute to my Dad on Father's Day

Today is Father's Day and I can never find just the right card to let my father know the enormous positive influence he's had in making me who I am today. I am very close to my mother, and I give her a lot of credit in my upbringing, but I often forget to let my Dad know how key he was as well.

Since I was born in 1962, my Dad was not the typical hands on dad you may see today, but he still taught me a life-time of lessons that are the foundation of who I am. Here are just a few of those lesson… Continue

Do you go to work in DRAG?

Just wondering. I found this great blog and this post really struck a chord. How many people go to work to be one person and are really someone else outside of work? Moreover, how many times do we see others that way?

I have to admit that I do go to work in Drag sometimes, but I will be more committed to putting the 'business drag' away and just be me no matter what. Continue

400 dancers in Liverpool Train Station, London

For a quick shot of 'happy' in your day --watch this short video.

It was shot at Liverpool station in London. They used 400 dancers and 10 hidden cameras. No one but the station employees and dancers knew what was going on... it was aired on youtube and tv and you can see the number of passers- by that shot what they could with their phones...

Tips for Customer Service

I just have to share this great video relating to Zappos customer service and core values. For example, here are just a few ideas--- Zappos offers free shipping both to your home and for returns. They require every employee to experience the call center and the shipping center, no matter who you are (atty, accountant, executive, etc.). They want their brand to be Customer Service.

If you are looking for some ideas on how to improve your customer focus, watch this. I warn you it is 30 minutes, b… Continue

Hi Lynn,

I saw that you were on the Business Roundtable Network (BRN) discussion in Smaller Indiana.   We have our biggest event in our short history (Jan. 2009 until now) coming up next week.   If ever there was a time to get involved with BRN now would be the time. We provide the support and exchange of expertise needed in this economy.  We need a core of people (50) who are truly committed to helping each other get through this economy and thrive.
It would be great to have you as a part of that.
Hope to see you next Thursday.  See details below.
Thursday, April 30th
4:30 pm to 6:30 pm
At Conquest Racing Headquarters
Get additional information and register in advance by going to our website:  www.brncommunity.com
We need you to register because food is being provided by Z’s Oyster Bar and Steakhouse – excellent!
We need numbers so we get the right amount of food!
So register now for this FREE event.
I hope to see you there.

Well, no recipes yet...I'm launching a cookie cafe with my friend, Karli. It's called The Hot Cookie. We're going to start distributing cookies at farmers markets and other various yet-to-be-known places by April. We hope to open an actual cafe by the end of the year. Thanks for your interest!

Hi Lynn,
Thank you for your response! Most of the participants will be from small non-profits and government organizations that are truly stretched to do far more with far little. The time management session is part of our Public Health Cafés, which are similar to Grand Rounds. It’s fairly informal, but we do web stream. The session on working with difficult people is part of our annual conference. Obviously, this is something many people have to deal with, but public health can become very political, especially in local health departments and state agencies.

Here is the release on the conference….let me know if either option is something you think would be a good fit for you.
The Indiana State Department of Health, the Indiana Public Health Association, and the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Public Health Office of Public Health Practice are presenting a joint National Public Health Week Conference, Building the Foundation for a Healthy Indiana. This two-day conference is designed for professionals in local and state government agencies, health-related organizations, academics, environmental affairs, clinical medical care, health administration, and policy.
The conference will offer:
• Award ceremony
• Local and national speakers presenting over 35 sessions
• Local Health Department Manager's Meeting
• Networking opportunities and events
• Physical activity sessions
• Poster sessions
• Special student tracks for graduate and undergraduates
• Trade show
Sessions will cover a variety of public health issues. Specific focus will be on health reform, environmental health, professional development, public health science, and promising practices. A student track will be available on April 8 and is designed for graduate and undergraduate students.
Building the Foundation for a Healthy Indiana will be held at the new Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Campus Center on April 7-8, 2009. Registration costs $85 per day or $160 for both days. Students may attend for $45 per day, with some scholarships available. The registration fee includes all sessions, access to the trade show, participant materials, certificate, parking, continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon break service.
Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are available, starting at $250. All packages include at least one complimentary registration, a booth for two days, and the opportunity to present at an exclusive career fair for students.
Sponsor and exhibit packages are now available. The conference brochure will be available by February 1, 2009. For more information, please visit: www.publichealthconnect.org/Special_Features/INJointConference.aspx or contact Kate Nicholson, program manager of IN MAPHTC, at katlnich@iupui.edu or 317.274.3178.

Hi Lynn,

Came down with something over the weekend so took a rare sick day today. I'l call you tomorrow evening if that's ok or if you have time feel free to give me a ring. I hope your meeting with April went well. I'd like to get her on board too. I don't know much about her but she seems pretty sharp from what I have seen on her profile.

Thanks again for meeting me. I enjoyed it.
