That is so appropriate during the July 4th festivities. The national anthem has more meaning once you hear the actual events leading to Francis Scott Key writing the anthem. Very important for all of us to remember what our ancestors fought for.

Nine minutes and you will never listen to our national anthem the same ever again

Please allow me to take a tiny break from technology to share with you a video that was sent to me by a good friend of mine earlier this week. Actually, I received an audio-only version but found the corresponding video version (audio plus some accompanying slides) on YouTube.

The video tells an amazing story of Francis Scott Key and how he was forced to watch a British attack on Fort McHenry. And it is this very story that is now played out hundreds of times each day through the playing of our… Continue

Introducing the Best Buy Penalty Zone Program

Readers of my blog have long followed my ups and downs with Best Buy. Apparently it's time for another downswing.

I may be old school but I've always thought the idea behind a business was to wow your customers. Go above and beyond or get lumped in with everyone else.

Which is why I am dumbfounded at a recent call I received from Best Buy explaining some changes to the Best Buy Reward Zone program. Lucky for me (and perhaps for you) I didn't have my cell phone on me at the time so it went to v… Continue

Could technology lead to the end of the world?

Last week I demonstrated a handful of consumer electronics to a local group of people in Indianapolis. I talked about the good and the bad for each one with the goal of letting each audience member decide whether to love or leave the technology. I concluded by opening up the floor for a general Q & A session.

The Q & A quickly turned to a discussion about what the nectarines Twitter and Facebook are. As I explained each one, I looked around the room and noticed a lot of quizical faces s… Continue

39 dollars and 75 since on jim 20 fifth

I've had my ups and downs with the Jott service but I still continue to use it because it's just so darn handy when I need to remind myself of something when I'm away from my office.

But when I get jotts like this one, I question my continued use of their service.

Here's what I said: "39 dollars and 75 cents on the Discover card at Speedway on June 25th"

I jotted this because I had just filled up the car with gas and didn't get a receipt.

Here's what was waiting for me fromContinue

Is God reading your text messages?

I was driving down the road today and noticed a sign in front of a church that read:

"Need Prayer? Txt 501-6654"

Two emotions hit me immediately. The first was to think how cool it was that the church was embracing technology and encouraging younger generations to pray using the communication method most familiar to them. This emotion was follow… Continue

HI Patric,

I saw that you were on the Business Roundtable Network (BRN) discussion in Smaller Indiana. We have our biggest event in our short history (Jan. 2009 until now) coming up next week. If ever there was a time to get involved with BRN now would be the time. We provide the support and exchange of expertise needed in this economy. We need a core of people (50) who are truly committed to helping each other get through this economy and thrive.

It would be great to have you as a part of that.

Hope to see you next Thursday. See details below.

Thursday, April 30th

4:30 pm to 6:30 pm

At Conquest Racing Headquarters

Get additional information and register in advance by going to our website: www.brncommunity.com

We need you to register because food is being provided by oyster bar and grill – excellent!

We need numbers so we get the right amount of food!

So register now for this FREE event.

I hope to see you there.

Hello, I am new to Smaller Indiana and thought I would reach out to connect and say hello. My name is Brandon and I am the Director for Musical Medicine. We build music libraries for hospitals.

Are you planning on attending the Chocolate Blues and Business Networking Festival next Thursday? I hear it's going to be huge, they expect about 1,500 people to attend. It should be a great networking day! I have free tickets, if you need a ticket, let me know and I'll email you one. If you want more details about it, it's listed under events on the 26th.

Have a good day and I look forward to networking with you. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for you,
Brandon

Oh, Kyle started a string (?) that asked everybody to post seven things about you on your own message board or blog. I put mine in the wrong place and have not taken the time to move it.
