When opportunity knocks

Vanity Fair has been my favorite magazine for many years, but of late Inc. is becoming a very close second. In this month’s Inc. magazine, one of the little stories that caught my eye was titled When Brown is Green and it goes like this…

Knock knock.

Who’s there?

A really ugly brown lawn due to a foreclosure.

Let’s dye you green to help you feel better.

Brilliant idea; even your neighbors like the end result.

Yeah, I should sell this idea.

Knock… Continue

Get better every day

I'm working with an amazing team for Shanna's Story. When we began our journey to tell the story and raise funds for Josiah Nelson and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, we didn't really know each other well. Now just a couple weeks shy of the campaign completion, we have grown together. Our biggest area of growth is our… Continue

My mother-in-law is a major Sci Fi fan, probably so much that if she could only have one channel, it would be Sci Fi. She’s also an incredibly smart woman, knows how to handle just about any situation (she has a default laugh like me when nothing else will do) and is a teacher. Why do you do all that?

Once someone gets to know me, and the many activities I do very well at getting myself in to, this question is always next: Why do you do all that? I'm often asked in a not so polite way, like the choice I've made for myself to give back and get involved (albeit sometimes too much involved) are simply idiotic. I kindly smile and say, well, it's just what I do. But, not anymore. I'm going to tell you why I do all that today.

You get out of life what you put in. Many people will not… Continue

The Start of Shanna's Story

A few weeks ago I was approached by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to participate in a fundraiser for their research, cause and mission. The typical gala fundraiser was being replaced with a compeititon for Woman/Man of the Year with local men and women competing for the title over a nine week period.

Then I met Stacia Renbarger (she and her husband own Prostar Consulting - great outsourced payroll… Continue

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

3. Events should be posted in the events calendar

5. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.

6. "Blatant self-promotion" is discouraged on SI, and "spam" is not welcome. Please be considerate of your fellow members.

7. Display ads (graphic banners designed to promote your business) can only live on your own profile page, unless you are an approved sponsor of Sponsor of Smaller Indiana.
