I change my routine, and it takes a lot more work to keep it interesting. Once the temp. is below 40 I'm inside 99% of the time.

I certainly cut back on the running. In the past I'd hop on the treadmill or elliptical but I've recently discovered rowing. That's what I'll be doing this time.

In the winter I use that time to lift heavier & work on size. Spring/Summer is the time to shed fat & enjoy the outdoors.

When It's Time To Stop Eating

Saw this in the Star's "health and fitness" section:

Wansink (from Cornell University) asked 150 Parisians how they know when it's time to stop eating. "When I'm no longer full, or the food stops tasting good," they answered. Next he posed that question to 150 people in Chicago. Their answers? "When my plate is empty. When everyone else is done. When the television show that I am watching ends."

"Those are all external cues," Wansick says. "If we follow external cue

Exercise Pays Off

Barb Berggoetz is a writer for the Indy Star. She has a regular blog as well. You should take a look.

Her new post looks at a recent study showing the long term benefits of exercise. That may not be of interest to those just wanting to burn off the Thanksgiving calories.

Being fit makes a huge difference in quality of life right now but it's good to know it should pay off down the road as well. When… Continue

Came across this quote in Michael Boyle's book about designing strength training programs.

"Remember, you can't believe everything you read, and you shouldn't read only what you believe."

That's especially true of things related to fitness but really applies to any topic. As they say, if it's too good to be true...

Mix It Up With Exercise And Fitness Routine

Dave Patania said this in a recent post on his fitness blog:

"...many overuse injuries and exercise-inconsistency is due to getting bored and by doing the same things over and over with no variation."

Mixing it up is crucial whether you're talking about cross training or even training within the same methodology. Boredom is a killer.

Like good nutrition, exercise has to b… Continue

Rob would you say you are an expert at proper breathing techniques during intense exercise? Also, would you say you are highly qualified to instruct athletes regarding the best work out routine (cycles of intensity and rest) to achieve the best endurance and breath support? You come recommended by someone you have helped. :)
