"Uh Oh, Hot Dog!"

Today was the day, my dear loyal readers. I got to go to King David Dogs in downtown Indianapolis this afternoon, as part of Indy's first TasteCasting adventure. And what an adventure it was!

I got there early, as I was going to try to scout out a place to sit, close to an electrical outlet, but that didn't really work out, so I settled for… Continue

My Art-tastic Journey: Fiddling on the Roof now

Remember when I told you about the concert that I sang in a couple weeks ago? Well, I've been roped into another production, this time a pretty big deal (even though I play a very small part). On Mother's Day weekend (Saturday and Sunday, May 9 & 10), St. Luke's United Methodist Church and Congregation Beth-El Zedeck in Indianapolis are co-presenting a full-scale production of the classic musical "Fiddler on the Roo… Continue

Today's "Requiem" concert just got a lot more personal for me

Shortly after yesterday's dress rehearsal for today's "Requiem" concert at St. Luke's, I got an e-mail letting me know that a dear friend and fellow choir member had passed away. Bob Butler, a good friend and a good man, had been hospitalized recently, and his condition had worsened over the past few days, and now he's gone Home.

Bob was one of the first people to welcome me to the St. Luke's Chancel Choir when I started… Continue

"Why would I want to spend part of my Sunday listening to a Requiem?"

Having grown up in the orchestra program of Carmel-Clay Schools, I'm probably more into classical music than the average person. I hope, though, that you'll consider joining me and almost 200 other musicians for a concert this Sunday, to hear the Indianapolis premiere of a piece that debuted at the opening and re-dedication of the Mormon Tabernacle just a little over a year ago.

Singing a "Requiem"

I'm excited about a performance that I have an opportunity to be a part of in the coming weeks. In March, St. Luke's United Methodist Church's Chancel Choir and Orchestra will present one of the first performances of a piece called Requiem, composed by Mack Wilberg, the music director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. (… Continue

Scott, I was glad to meet you at the SI office the other day. I mentioned it to Mark Kesling. By the way, I love the Dream Big song that plays on your page!

I posted a blog about words that make me cringe and at the top of the list for me are:
Nosh
Crunk
Bling
Erectile
and several others.
What are yours and why? Are these awful words or just too trendy and overused? Please take a look when you get a chance I value your opinion!

That post originated on the American Values Alliance and was picked up by Bil at Bilerico and then by The Daily Kos. If you'd like to let people know, feel free. Bil and others aren't being shy!

Social circumstances are, indeed, impacting our ability to network and work together. When we can speak more fully and frankly about these and many other issues, our business (and personal) communities just get stronger.

Best,
Lalita
