I'm nuts, I know.
A couple weeks ago I resigned from my job as VP of Blogging Evangelism at Compendium Blogware. You can read more about the decision on my blog... it's a win-win for Compendium Blogware and for the new Agency I'm launching.
Resign from Compendium Blogware?
Wish me luck!

I'm not trying to promote my own company here - but the promotion of ANY
Indianapolis business on a national level should be cause for celebration.
BusinessWeek did a great article on the
Most Promising Startups in the country and
Vontoo and
Compendium Blogware both made the list!
Thanks to…

Not sure if Pat will consider this too commercial for a blog post, but I'm hoping with the economy as it is a company that is growing and hiring would be appreciated :-)
We are looking to add 4 more BDM's (business development managers) to start at the beginning of April. These are inside sales positions and we are looking for outgoing people with around 2 years of sales experience.
doesn't really matter what you have been selling. We actually have a couple of former campus recruiters who are…

My friend John Jantshch of Duct Tape Marketing Fame has come up with a really clever idea that I think if perfect for the SI Mission. Please review his note below, and make a commitment to help refer to small business the week of March 9-13.
Make a Referral - jump start the economy
We're pledging to make a referral to a business we want to help as part of a national campaign to make 1000 referrals March 9-13. What a great small business stimulus plan - won’t you join us.

I'm asked on a regular basis what I think of Compendium. I decided it made sense to post a blog with my thoughts based on research and discussions with others in the SEO biz. Bottom line- Compendium is exploiting an opening in Google's algorithm that could close at any time. I also noted my ideas on how to keep the platform viable if Google does make the changes I think they eventually will, which would punish many of Compendium's blogs.

A couple weeks ago some members of the
Compendium team headed over to the Hilbert Cirlce Theater to attend Happy Hour at the Symphony. We enjoyed appetizers from downtown vendors such as Vitos and Oceanair and had a couple free cocktails prior to the start of the symphony. My favorite appetizers were the oysters provided by Oceanair. And when I say favorite, I don’t mean because I enjoyed them! They were mostly my favorite because it was my first t…

This still isn't public knowledge but the news is starting to get out so I thought I'd share it with the folks who know me best!
I've accepted a VP position with Compendium Blogware and start in 2 weeks!
The move is a great one for me personally. It puts me much closer to home, frees up some hours, provides the family with benefits, and will allow me to work full time on my passion - helping businesses blog.
My appreciation and respect for Patronpath has not died, though. It's an incre…

Pat Coyle posed this question to me:
I wonder if you'd share with us your thoughts on blogging inside Smaller Indiana? Seems to me that blogging inside a community has some similar dynamics as corporate blogging, but community opens up other cans of worms, no?
Both Corporate and Community blogs share many of the same characteristics. You have to be honest, you shouldn't be mean or defame anyone or anything. Both require a 'conversational/human' voice and the accepted societal rules asso…

I'm totally lifting this paragraph from a comment I saw posted by Scott Henderson of
Mediasauce about Corporate Blog Content and who should write....I promise I will send him a link:
"..Another big challenge is the misperception of how to blog. It’s not lengthy white papers, stilted memorandums, and corporate speak, but needs to be more akin to engaging coffee house/cocktail party conversation The savvy corporations tap people who are great minglers and conversa…

There are a lot of parallels to compare Corporate Blogging today to where Email Marketing was 5 or 6 years ago. Back then, Email Marketing was free. All you had to do was download a ListServ application, configure a server or two, find and manipulate some plug-in applications for registration or bounces or unsubscribes or de-duplication or throttling or opens & clickthrough tracking or analytics.....and the list goes on.
In the end, some geeks might have loved all this tinkering, but from a…
