Diane Wieland "Smaller Indiana" enclaves add security to our lives

Check out this short film by emerging Hoosier filmmaker and writer, Austin Considine, who interviews Dr. David Bodenhamer from the IUPUI Polis center on our basic and inherent need to create enclaves to shut out the chaos of everyday existence. This film (and the accompanying post) depict how this need was exploited by real estate lenders/bu… Continue

John Qualls Solving the Financial Crisis

On vacation this week. (First in 3 years). While driving 12 hours to Syracuse I had plenty of time to think about the current financial crisis we are in. Rob Wagoner A Builder Doing Good in this Down Economy

There have been so many stories about the current economic impact of the "housing crisis" or the "credit crunch" that these terms have almost become cliches. So in the midst of all of this gloom and doom it is refreshing to see a builder that is lookin… Continue

Matt Quasebarth Crisis Management - How do you bring back your employees?

Let's say that a crisis occurs (maybe a robbery, or a natural disaster), something bad goes wrong and injuries occur. Ultimately, the business shuts down for a short amount of time. How do you effectively manage your employee's as they re-enter the environment? Personally, I believe that the main concern is their physical and mental health. Communication is a necessity. Give the employee's a chance to work through their concerns. Make an open door policy and keep effectively focusing the team.… Continue
