I read an article in the Indianapolis Star today titled 5 Things You Need to Know Today. I don't normally read the newspaper but my wife left a copy of the newspaper on my desk to bring the article to my attention.
Ironically, I think my wife wanted me to read about thing #1 in the article which is about an Indianapolis "Twestival" being organized using Twitter to raise money for Riley Children's Foundation. For more information on this twestival go to indianpolis.twestival.com.
But what caugh…

"Have you ever thought about DirecTV?" said the message. My wife had just IMed me while I was at work.
"Uhh, no, no I haven't," I replied, getting defensive. "And so what if I have? There's nothing wrong with that. Dr. Phil says fantasies are important to having a healthy relationship. I mean, sure I walk through Best Buy with sunglasses on, but that's because it's so dang bright in there."
"What are you talking about?" she wrote back.
"All right, all right. Sometimes I think about DirecTV wh…

So, I am not sure if this should be a blog posting or a discussion posting, but for now, we will try it here...
I wanted to share this article about the service that some Indiana College Students were involved in earlier this summer in Indianapolis to help them become environmental stewards on their campuses and in their own communities.

Hello all! I am a recent grad from Butler University and recently landed my dream job teaching kindergarten in Franklin Township (south east side of Indianapolis). I am looking for some help getting tables for my students instead of using the desks we have now...Desks just aren't appropriate for 5 and 6 year olds and my philosophy of teaching. Anyone have any ideas for how to get some funding? (Special websites for grants etc) I am in need of about $822... Thanks all!

Many people who have credit issues are misinformed about credit repair companies. Many consumers feel that these companies are all scams. Like in any other industry, there are those that are not honest. However, there are reputable companies like
Integrated Credit Specialists that seek to educate consumers.
Credit restoration can be a lengthy process and requires a lot of work. Just like you can do your own taxes, you can repair your own credi…

Many schools and classrooms throughout the state are participating in the Hoosier Environmental Council's "Our Place Program": A place-based education program that funds and empowers teachers and students to have a learning experience out in the field while benefiting the community though active participation in environmental stewardship.

People love going places on vacation. Others take time off work to just stay at home for what they call a stay-cation. I decided this week, I'm on think-cation.
What is a think-cation? Well, for starters, I'm still working. Just not on the day-to-day things that usually bog me down. Instead, I'm dedicating the entire week to thinking of new ideas and new directions for Noobie.
I'm also educating myself. Filling my head with audiobooks, taking online courses and reading eBooks. Food for the bus…

To French Roast or Not to French Roast? This is my questions, and brings many new ones to mind.
What is French Roast coffee? Well I know the answer to this, but I will prepare a written one just in case. That is really the first question to address.
What happens to a coffee bean when…

I've long complained that zero tolerance policies turn school administrators into bureaucratic automatons who lack any common sense or compassion for rule breakers. From a first grade boy who was suspended for having a weapon – a knife he got from the school cafeteria – to girls who had anti-PMS medication, administrators' blind adherence to zero tolerance has put stains on the permanent records of otherwise-good kids who have never been a minute's trouble.
And we all know how long those perman…

I had a conversation with a friend yesterday about a marketing position I'm attempting to fill. I shared with my pal that I interviewed a nice person with an undergrad degree in marketing from a very reputable school and is currently obtaining a masters degree. Sounds nice, right? Afterall, I have a marketing position available and the candidate is well-educated (within marketing), friendly and professional. So, why haven't I drafted an employment agreement yet?
There was something missing. I w…

I work in a world where my target message recipients are not infrequently very limited in their web access, I was excited to find a fellow web marketer using a cellular method of signing up for message delivery! Hurrah! Then I signed up and shoot, the IT gatekeepers have shut me down, aka they filtered my desired content: an untrusted or expired SSL certificate.
So many details to getting the message through (just ask ExactTarget about effective email delivery).

Life insurance can meet business needs as well as personal needs. When the business is the largest asset of an owner’s estate, life insurance becomes a major planning tool. Continuation of the business after death, replacement of key employees, equalization of inheritance for heirs not interested in the business, or the buyouts of other business partners become major estate planning concerns.
There are many strategies to assist business owners to meet these estate-planning concerns. Below is a…

I'm beginning this blog and my activities on "Smaller Indiana" with a "My Seven Things" list. This activity resonated with me and I assigned it to my elementary students. My students, at an
IPS inner-city school, struggle with sentence structure. This assignement gives them a chance to write seven strong sentences about their favorite subject...themselves.
I've written a few of these (I wrote Sixteen Things for Facebook) and they change with the audience.…
