Ben McCann Helping People in Job Transition is Rewarding

I have been working on helping people in Job Transition for a few years now ( on the side ) for FREE. Since I have always been a good networker, lots of people have sent me their resumes to "keep my eyes open" and other companies and clients send me job postings because I have a "good eye" for talent. By December 2008 I had more of these emails then I could handle, but I still wanted to help as many people as possible. After being a part of SI almost since the beginning, I decided to do somethi… Continue

Mandy Cooley Smile & Move (like it was made for Smaller Indiana)

I ran into this video while reading today's edition of John Maxwell's Leadership Wired. There were so many things about it that made me think of Smaller Indiana! 1 - It is all about how we grow when we give and serve. This venue (SI) is all about serving through gifts - giving time, energy, attention, knowledge - for the sake of growing one another and the communities in which we live. 2 - The end asks us, as viewers, to "smove" - which is a great parallel to the smoosiers found here every day… Continue

Amy Stark Thanks @TropicThink from Oslo Norway. What an Exciting life!

I am writing a blog, slowly but surely, about "My Top Ten List of Top Ten Lists from International Tweeple". I put a call out on twitter to see if the "making a top ten list" meme is global phenomenon. Harald from Oslo Norway was the first person to respond, and the blog he wr… Continue

Amy Stark TED FELLOWSHIP-How many Smoosiers are also TEDsters?

A few Smoosiers know that I applied for a TED Fellowship to attend the conference in the Spring 09—all conference fees are waived and hotel bills are paid. Did any other SI member apply for a fellowship? Is there another Smoosier planning to attend the conference in 09? The only Smoosiers… Continue

Theresia Whitfield Did You Say $4.00 Per Gallon?

There are gobs of intelligent, skillful, and creative business people on Smaller Indiana. I consider myself creative and maybe just a little intelligent. But I'm not intelligent enough to come up with a solution. So, I turn to my fellow Smoosiers. I'm also the type of person who believes in doing for yourself. No hand outs from the government. No gimme's for stuff I don't deserve simply because I breath and happen to live in the US of A. All that being said, I think it's time we citizens of th… Continue

Erik Deckers Smoosier of the Week – Lorraine Ball

You can’t swing a dead cat in Indianapolis without hitting someone who knows Lorraine Ball. Widely regarded by Smoosiers, RainMakers, LinkedIn-ers, and hermits in the desert as the Queen of Networking, Lorraine devotes countless time and energy to meeting new people and connecting them with other people. Originally coming to the Hoosier state from Queens New York. She graduated from Springfield Gardens High School (“Go Golden Eagles!), graduated from Queens College, City University of New York,… Continue

Erik Deckers Smoosier of the Week – Jennifer Temple

If you’re a regular shopper at Marsh Supermarkets, or visit restaurants like The Ram, you’ve seen samples of Jennifer Temple’s work. She’s the president of High School Sports: The Magazine, a magazine about – what else? – high school sports. The magazine covers all high school sports in 75+ high school communities around Central Indiana, and has been in business for over a year. Jennifer says she is “just an owner,” but that her staff gets all the credit for their work, and encourages he… Continue
